WEX is an innovative payments and technology company leading the way in a rapidly changing environment. Our goal is to simplify the business of running a business for our customers and free them to spend more time, with less worry, on the things they love. We are on a journey to build a unified, world-class user experience across our products and services and leverage customer-driven innovation to power our growth and strategic initiatives.

As we lean into our mission to “simplify the business of running a business,” WEX is looking to simplify and reimagine experiences, starting from the customer perspective. The WEX UX team is responsible for designing customer experiences for many different types of users. We work in the health, travel, payments, and fleet spaces. Our team collaborates across all verticals to ensure we create the best experiences that can be used across platforms. You will contribute to all aspects of design and execution, including pitching your ideas, designing products and features (workflow, visual design, interaction design, and prototyping), and partnering with research to test your ideas. You will work with development to implement the approved vision. You will do this through the following competencies: Strategic Mindset, User-Centric, Applied Expertise, Innovation Focused, Cross-Functional Collaborator, and Results Focused.

About the team:
As a team, we value a variety of perspectives and experiences. We bring our best selves to work every day because we are passionate about solving problems for our users. You will bring your design expertise to both existing and new products. We iterate quickly as new ideas arise and project demands evolve. We offer UX guidance to a wide audience and actively participate in all stages of projects. Our success is a result of successfully managing and developing cross-disciplinary connections with authors, designers, developers, creative technologists, and data scientists. We contribute ideas and work well with these cross-functional teams to create concise UX proposals.

We’re particularly excited about candidates who bring a personal passion for experimenting with AI technologies and can bring that curiosity and innovation into their design work.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with Product and UX Team Lead to translate concepts into user flows, visualizations, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences with an emphasis on both customer-facing applications, both desktop and mobile form factors.
  • Deliver wireframes and visualizations optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces with a focus on device-agnostic design.
  • Make strategic design and user-experience recommendations related to both core and new functions and features. Identify workflow and experience problems, and suggest elegant solutions.
  • Explore how AI technologies—such as generative AI, predictive analytics, or chat interfaces—can enhance user workflows and simplify complex tasks.
  • Ensure a user-centered design approach, employing rapid test-and-learn methodologies. Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas, especially around leveraging AI to drive meaningful improvements.

How you’ll engage:

  • Strategic Mindset: Seek to understand WEX’s corporate strategy, the competitive environment, and market trends, and identify how our products can create value.
  • User-Centric: Understands and advocates for the user’s needs with empathy.
  • Applied Expertise: Provides a deep understanding of methods, techniques, and best practices for the applied area of expertise.
  • Innovation Focused: Brings a hunger for new ideas or ways of thinking, especially around AI experimentation, in pursuit of the optimal solution and a willingness to investigate.
  • Cross-Functional Collaborator: Champions for best-in-class outcomes while inspiring others to follow suit, creating alignment across functions.
  • Results Focused: Maintains data integrity and uses iterative experiments to design solutions that deliver on business goals.

Experience you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree with studies relevant to digital experience creation, graduate program is a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience as a UX Designer, or similar UX-related role.
  • Expert level with the following tools: Figma, Google Suite.
  • Working knowledge in Sketch, InVision, Creative Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of mobile-first approach; experience designing based on personas.
  • Passion for working collaboratively on complex workflows and applications to create intuitive interfaces.
  • A curiosity for exploring AI-driven design possibilities and enthusiasm for incorporating experimentation into workflows.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities, navigate ambiguity, and have fun doing so with a team of peers.
  • Good communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation to leadership audiences.
