Department Summary
University News & Digital Media is responsible for enterprising and writing news stories that are posted across BSU’s numerous communication channels – from bridgew.edu to social media channels to BridgeNet and online newsletter Bridgewater Today. The department is responsible for telling the BSU story to the institution’s diverse campus community including current and prospective students, faulty and staff, alumni and donors, and the general public – all of which enhances BSU’s reputation. The team in University News and Digital Media creates digital content seen on BSU’s official social media channels on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Successful candidates will be staff members that can work collaboratively with their colleagues in Marketing and across the university to meet the mission of the department in serving, supporting and enhancing our racially and ethnically diverse campus community and in driving enrollment.
Position Summary
The Staff Assistant, Social Media and Digital Content Coordinator, is responsible for managing the daily operations of the University’s official social media pages and maintaining the University’s digital content library. Under the direction of the director of social media and digital content, the social media and digital content coordinator will amplify and optimize official university messages on social media, lead digital audience management and response, create and curate content for social media and other marketing & communications usage, collaborate with internal stakeholders and campus partners, and implement digital content strategies for marketing and communications campaigns. In collaboration with director of social media and digital content, the social media and digital content coordinator will identify emerging social media trends and make strategic social media recommendations. The social media and digital content coordinator will also manage and maintain the University’s digital library of photography and video assets, which includes optimizing functionality, ensuring searchability through keywords and asset rating, and image delivery.

Reports to the Director of Social Media and Digital Content.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
The staff assistant, social media and digital content coordinator, may assist in the oversight of student-employees and/or student interns for the Division of Enrollment, Marketing & Communications.
This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA. This position is eligible for hybrid / remote work in accordance with BSU remote work policy.
This is a full-time, 12-month APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Essential Duties
- Publishing social media content on the University’s official social media platforms
- Managing the University’s social media publication calendar to ensure content is consistent, timely, and distributed
- Crafting written social media posts that align with BSU’s digital voice, institutional style guides, and recommendations from the director of social media and digital content
- Providing consistent and timely responses to audience messages, questions, and concerns
- Monitoring pages and social media space to advise leadership about opportunities for increased engagement, potential crises, and industry trends
- Developing, creating, and curating social media content (photos, graphics, possible videos) in alignment with the University’s brand style guide
- Assisting in the execution of organic and paid marketing campaigns on social media for Enrollment, Marketing, and Communications
- Analyzing data for organic social media strategy and paid social campaign tactics
- Reporting key performance indicators to key stakeholders
- Tailor written communications’ voice and tone to the brand style for specific channels or campaigns, as well as communicate with accuracy and empathy directly to our online audiences
- Overseeing the maintenance of the University’s digital content library, which includes uploading assets, identifying top images for high-level usage, keywording photos, sharing assets with campus stakeholders and external partners, and optimizing functionality
- Utilizing expertise in social media space to be a resource to our campus community (collaboration, cross-promotion, brand adherence)
- Collaboratively oversee a small team of student-employee content-creators
- All other duties as directed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Professional experience managing a company/organization’s social media platforms, which includes:
- Crafting engaging written content for external audiences
- Executing brand strategy
- Creating social media content (graphics, photography, and/or short-form video)
- Maintaining an editorial calendar
- Responding to messages and inquiries from the public
- Experience supporting multi-channel marketing or content campaigns
- Familiarity with platform-specific best practices and content trends on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), TikTok, YouTube, and other social media/content platforms
- Experience creating social media graphics using software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Express, and/or Canva
- Knowledge of digital asset management procedures and best practices
- Familiarity with digital content collaborative workflows and content delivery
