Job Description

JS Held is hiring for a Senior Technical Director to join its team within the Energy and Environmental Advisory Service Line. This position will focus on Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) assessment and risk mitigation consulting. The position will require demonstrated experience in comprehensive EHS program development, implementation, and assessment, including corporate EHS strategy and program development, internal and third-party compliance auditing, incident investigation, industrial hygiene assessment, health and safety training, and general EHS compliance and risk management support.

The successful candidate must be capable of managing varying priorities to provide high-quality project deliverables completed on time and within budget. The candidate will need to demonstrate initiative and critical thinking to customize work approaches, present information, and issue resolutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Manage multiple large and complex projects from inception to completion.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and deliver high quality work product on complex regulatory and technical issues related to EHS assessment, risk mitigation, and incident investigation, including collaborating with other service lines to effectively serve diverse clients.
  • Business Development: Leverage and develop relationships to expand and generate client leads and secure contracts in key industry sectors, including insurance, energy, and manufacturing.
  • EHS Program Development and Implementation: Advise clients on developing and implementing innovative, outcome-focused EHS programs and policies that integrate best management practices and ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
  • EHS Audit and Assessment: Perform and/or coordinate internal and third-party audits to ensure and verify compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
  • EHS Risk Management: Assist clients in identifying operational and/or regulatory risks and developing actionable mitigation strategies to reduce those risks.
  • Incident Investigation and Industrial Hygiene Assessment: Conduct industrial hygiene incident investigations and assessments that identify, evaluate, and control health hazards in a wide range of industrial and commercial settings.
  • Safety: Advise clients on developing and managing corporate safety strategies, safety management systems, process safety, and risk management.
  • Technical Reporting: Produce high quality technical reports and perform QA/QC on project reports prepared by other team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field; advanced degrees or complementary qualifications in Public Health, Risk Management, Sustainability, or Business Administration (MBA) are highly desirable.
  • At least 15 years of EHS assessment and risk mitigation consulting experience, including demonstrated experience in comprehensive EHS program development, implementation, and assessment, including corporate EHS strategy and program development, internal and third-party compliance auditing, incident investigation, industrial hygiene investigation and assessment, health and safety training, and general EHS compliance and risk management support.
  • An existing book of business.
  • The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of EHS assessment and risk mitigation consulting but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks.
  • Strong working experience in MS Office Suite software.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare concise and accurate technical documents.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a project team.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good business judgement skills and teamwork oriented.
  • Strong financial management skills to keep projects on budget.

  • Able to carry equipment, as much as 30lbs unassisted.

  • Able to reach above head.
  • Able to bend at the knee.
  • Able to climb ladders to reach high areas.
  • Able to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Able to squat, kneel or crouch in confined spaces when necessary.
  • Able to detect burning sensations on skin etc.
  • Vision must be correctable to at least 20:40 with ability to distinguish colors with good depth perception and peripheral vision.

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $150,000 - $205,000. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
