As Senior Grants Manager, you'll be at the heart of AIBN's research engine-leading high-impact grants management and providing strategic support that directly fuels innovation and discovery. Your mission? To empower our research community by identifying competitive funding opportunities, guiding the development of compelling grant applications, and ensuring the sustainability of our core research programs.

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Lead the grants function for the Institute, managing pre-award processes and coordinating high-quality funding submissions.
  • Scout and share funding opportunities, ensuring researchers are equipped with timely, relevant information to stay ahead.
  • Drive excellence in grant writing, developing resources, reviewing applications, and offering strategic advice to elevate success rates.
  • Champion research performance, overseeing data collection and reporting to showcase AIBN's impact.
  • Collaborate across the Institute and UQ, working closely with another Senior Grants Manager, the Institute Director, Deputy Director (Research), Executive, Operational and Research teams, and the UQ Research Office.

About You

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in a related discipline and extensive experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in a research management environment, with demonstrated skills in pre-award grants management and administration.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant competitive granting schemes, with experience in the preparation, review and editing of successful grant applications.
  • A high level of oral and written communication skills, with an ability to engage with staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise responsibilities, work independently and as part of a team, and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or use of information management systems for strategic purposes, including the ability to assimilate information rapidly and strategically apply information to support institutional objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate relevant policies and procedures, and ensure compliance within the university governance and policy framework
