Job Summary: The Senior Copywriter, Manager on Mattress Firm’s brand creative team is responsible for crafting compelling, effective written content that supports brand, marketing and business initiatives. This role works closely with art directors, designers, and strategists to ensure cohesive storytelling across digital, social, video and print deliverables. This role includes leadership responsibilities such as mentoring and editing junior writers, driving ideation, and shaping the brand voice through all creative touchpoints. NOTE: All applications must include a professional portfolio.
Essential Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and refine compelling short-form and long-form copy that aligns with brand voice and drives customer action across social, digital, video, email, print, and in-store channels.
- Translate briefs and marketing objectives into clear, engaging messaging tailored to specific platforms and audiences while maintaining brand consistency.
- Collaborate with designers, art directors and strategists to concept and execute big ideas that connect across platforms.
- Partner with social and video teams to develop short-form, high-impact copy optimized for those formats.
- Review and improve content for clarity, brevity, calls to action and user experience, ensuring seamless integration with visual design.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities with a high level of attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
- Provide thoughtful feedback and mentorship to junior copywriters, helping elevate the team’s overall creative output.
- Ask insightful, strategic questions to ensure alignment and efficiency from project kickoff to final delivery.
- Confidently present concepts and rationale to creative leadership and cross-functional business partners.
- Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date.
- Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe work environment for all.
- Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts.
- Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality and proper brand representation.
- Communicate any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations.

- Contribute ideas on ways to optimize or improve the team, the department and the Company.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field required; proven experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Professional Experience
- 6+ Years Professional copywriting experience, required.
- Experience writing for consumer brands across social, digital, and integrated campaigns, required.
- Agency or in-house creative team experience, preferred.

- Knowledge of cultural and consumer trends shaping brand storytelling: Medium
Licenses and Certifications
- Certifications in writing, content strategy, or digital marketing (HubSpot, Content Marketing Institute, SEO, etc.) preferred

Compensation:
Competitive pay range of $85,000 - $105,000 per year * depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
