Job Description:
Hult International Business School is seeking applications for a Research Assistant to join the Research Team. The candidate will work on central and Lab projects, supporting faculty and researchers on various academic and applied research projects, initiatives and outputs.
In addition to core research tasks, the candidate will also take a lead role in coordinating research activities, including projects, publications, and events, across the program. These activities support Hult's strategic goals to build a vibrant research culture and aim to enhance knowledge sharing, collaboration, and impact across our global academic community.
This is a multi-function role incorporating research and project management skills, operations and administration with global constituents. This role offers a dynamic opportunity within a global business school, including collaboration with international faculty, exposure to real-world projects, and involvement in shaping impactful research and engagement.
Note: This role requires in-office/on-campus presence at our Cambridge, MA campus 4 days a week with 1 day work-from-home (WFH) benefit. The 1-day/week WFH benefit is subject to change at any time should the School change its approach.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for the role will be split across research activities and research coordination.
Research Responsibilities
- Conduct discrete tasks to support the timely progression of research and pedagogical projects. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, desk research, literature reviews, data collection and management, data analysis, write-up, and finding suitable outlets for dissemination.
- Proactive coordination of central and Lab research and pedagogical projects to explore collaboration and publishing opportunities.
- Monitor and support research and pedagogical projects to ensure they are executed following Hult's Research and Ethics Protocols.
- Become a specialist in quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods. Be a trusted advisor to faculty on the method.
- Assist in writing research and pedagogical outputs, including but not limited to, peer-reviewed articles and case studies.
- Support with the preparation of research outputs for submission to different outlets. Tasks include, but are not limited to, finding suitable outlets for the project, and editing work to meet formatting requirements and revisions.
- Support the processing and publication of Hult Cases and other pedagogical tools. Become a trusted advisor to faculty on these types of output.
- Support grant applications and foundation submissions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Coordination Responsibilities
- Lead the coordination and execution of research-related events. This includes planning, organizing, and executing events such as meetings, workshops, and speaker series. This applies to both internal and external events.
- Coordinate logistics including scheduling, venue booking, catering, and AV support for meetings and events.
- Liaise with speakers, faculty, and participants to ensure smooth event delivery.
- Develop promotional materials and collaborate with research communications and Marketing for outreach and impact.
- Manage event registration and post-event follow-up.
- Evaluate event effectiveness through participant feedback and data analytics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Attributes)
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or at least 1+ year equivalent professional experience
- Proven experience in research support and/or academic settings
- Prior experience coordinating professional or academic events (preferred)
- Familiarity with tools like SPSS, R, NVivo, Dedoose, Otter.ai, and Qualtrics, and a willingness to learn quickly
- Be skilled in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong organizational, multitasking, project coordination and time management skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication in English
- Have a high attention to detail
- Passion for quality and impactful research
- Be good at problem solving and have the attitude that 'nothing is impossible'
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a global team
- Collegial attitude and able to work collaboratively across teams and campuses
- Embraces change and thrives in a dynamic work environment
- Willingness to occasionally travel and work flexible hours as needed
- Fluent/highly proficient written and spoken English
