Region 1 Wage Agency Instructor
$45.00/hour
Part-Time Position (Temporary/Casual Staff)
2 Positions to be Filled
Location: Telecommuter; Region 1 TEEX Regional Map.
The Wage Agency Instructor is responsible for providing training for the municipal extension program - Region 1 in the state of Texas. The ?nalist must reside in any of the following counties for this position: Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Fannin, Grayson, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Morris, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Van Zandt, Wise. This position provides instruction and coordinates classes, conferences, and area schools. This position also provides National Fire Academy hand-off and field delivery courses and provides training for annual schools and/or other special schools or courses as directed.
This position reports to the Training Coordinator.
Required Qualifications:
-
Associate degree from an accredited college or university and 5 years' experience in Emergency Services, I.E. Fire/Rescue/Haz-Mat, EMS, Emergency Management, or Law Enforcement or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

1 year of experience in adult education and/or training.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
-
Certified Instructor with Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) or State Firefighter's and Fire Marshal's Association (SFFMA), or Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), or Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), or equivalent.

Must have a valid motor vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Advanced degree in fire science or related field.
-
Certified Basic Firefighter with TCFP, or Certified Firefighter II with SFFMA, or able to obtain 180 days after hire date.
-
10 years' Emergency Services experience, I.E. Fire/Rescue/Haz-Mat, EMS, Law Enforcement.
-
5 years supervisory experience.
-
5 years adult education and/or training experience in emergency services.
Physical Requirements:
-
Physical condition consistent with skills required to perform hands on training evolutions.
-
Must be physically able to wear PPE and move objects / training equipment up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to frequently use a computer/keyboard.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-
Specific knowledge consistent with teaching and conducting Emergency Services courses.

Ability to effectively communicate in a classroom setting and/or hands-on training activities.
-
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
-
Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff.
-
Knowledge of basic office software and instructional programs.
-
Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
-
Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
Equipment:

Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone.

Standard motor vehicle equivalent to the classification allowed by the driver's license.

This position is security sensitive.

This position may require > 80% travel.

This is a wage position established to accommodate a temporary organizational need. As such, TEEX does not guarantee any set number of hours or length of employment in this role. This position should average one to two course deliveries a month.

This position is eligible for telecommuting and requires completing work remotely.

This position primarily supports the instructional needs for the Extension Program - Region 2 and must reside in this region.
Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:
Instruction and Class Management: 80%
-
Instruct assigned courses.
-
Determine course goals and objectives.
-
Use a variety of techniques for presenting course material.
-
Develop instructional techniques to accommodate various learning styles.
-
Initiate and maintain interactive classroom discussions.
-
Provide positive reinforcement and motivational incentives.
-
Monitor learner performance.
-
Evaluate and assess instructional effectiveness.
Communication and Administration: 20%
-
Communications with Regional Training Manager and customers.
-
Submit all required documentation, including but not limited to class closeouts, travel, payroll.
-
Complete all training and work assignments on time.
Other Duties:
-
Interacts professionally and wears appropriate professional attire representing the TEEX in a positive manner.

Performs additional work duties as assigned.
