About the Role
Title: Power BI Data Modeler
Location: OR-Lake Oswego

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Data Modeler to join our team on a six-month contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data models that will serve as the foundation for self-service analytics across the organization. Your work will empower end-users with reliable, scalable, and insightful data models that enable informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop robust data models in Power BI to support self-service analytics.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable data models.
- Build efficient data relationships and ensure data integrity across various sources.
- Optimize Power BI data models for performance, scalability, and usability.
- Develop and manage semantic models to ensure consistency and alignment across reports.
- Create and manage Power BI Data Flows for data transformation and integration.
- Utilize Power Query (M) to clean, transform, and load data effectively.
- Perform Power BI Administration tasks, including workspace and dataset management, access control, and performance monitoring.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, including data dictionaries and relationship diagrams.
- Provide guidance and best practices to end-users on leveraging the models for self-service analytics.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data models, data flows, and data sources.
- Collaborate with data engineers, BI developers, and analysts to ensure seamless data integration

Skills and Requirements
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year program, preferably in computer science or a related area of study or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of Microsoft Power BI experience with a strong focus on data modeling.
- 3+ years of building and optimizing semantic data models for self-service.
- Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and SQL.
- Experience working with multiple data sources (e.g., SQL databases, Excel, cloud-based services).
- Solid understanding of data warehousing principles and star/snowflake schema design.
- Proficiency in Power Query (M) and experience with Power BI Data Flows.
- Familiarity with Power BI Administration tasks.
- Familiarity with Power BI Premium and Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Ability to analyze complex data sets and build relationships across data tables.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skill. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate).
- Experience working with SSRS.
- Experience utilizing Azure DevOps. null
