Overview
GovCIO is seekinga results-driven Power BIAnalyst/Data Modelerwith a strong background indata analysis, modeling, and visualization . This role willbe responsible fortransforming complex data into insightful, easy-to-understand dashboards and reports, while acting as a key advisor on Power BI best practices and data strategy.This position is fully remote,locatedin the United States.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, andmaintaininteractive Power BI dashboards and reportsthatprovideactionable insights for business and technical stakeholders.
- Generates Ad-Hoc PBI Reports.
- Conducts PBI Training (Instructor-led Class Development, Delivery).
- Installs and configures DW/BI software to meet customer needsin accordance withenterprise architecture.
- Continuously tunes environment tooptimizeperformance of DW/BI software.
- Perform in-depthdata analysis and interpretationto support strategic decision-making, uncover trends, andidentifybusiness opportunities.
- Create andoptimizedata models (star/snowflake schemas) , calculatedcolumns, measures, and KPIs usingDAXand Power Query (M).
- Serve as thePower BI SME , advising teams on visualization standards, performance tuning, and data storytelling techniques.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Integrate data from various sources including SQL databases, Azure Data Lake, Excel, SharePoint, and APIs.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reports and self-service datasets.
- Provide guidance and training to users and business teams to enhance Power BI adoption andproficiency.
- Ensures smoothoperationof DW/BI software through continuous monitoring and patching.
- Supports user administration for role-based securityin accordance withenterprise user security guidelines.
- Performs upgrades as needed to incorporate new features and assurehigh levelsof security and support.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelorswith 12 years (orcommensurateexperience).
- StrongproficiencywithPower BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, and PowerQuery .
- Solid understanding ofdata modeling techniques , including normalization, dimensional modeling, and relationships.
- Experience working withlarge data sets , and integrating data frommultiple sources(SQL, ADF, Azure, Excel) .
- Familiarity withETL conceptsand ability to work closely with data engineers to ensure clean, reliable data flows.
- Knowledge ofRow-Level Security (RLS) , workspace governance, and Power BI performance optimization techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex data for non-technical audiences.
- Experience in a cloud-based environment (Azure preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
- Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).

Posted Pay Range
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process.
