Job Description

Faculty Support delivers clerical, reception, technical, and classroom support to faculty members with minimal supervision. The role involves assisting faculty throughout the academic year and summer session, serving as a liaison between the Academic Operations department and other departments, including the public. The position also includes overseeing student employee work, providing backup support to other faculty support staff, and assisting the Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) department as needed. Additionally, the role involves providing secondary support for the learning management system (LMS), particularly Desire to Learn (D2L), for faculty and utilizing relevant software for captioning and transcribing online audio and video materials. Lastly, this position monitors and supports the student complaint process related to Academic Affairs with the Academic Affairs Coordinator.

The home campus for this position is Rapids. This position is primarily on campus and scheduled to work 8:30 am – 7:00 pm Monday-Thursday with eligibility for telework one day a week. 

Salary Range:

$20.45 -$27.12 hourly; $42,700 - $56,627 annually

Minimum Qualifications

  • English (speaking, reading, and writing) skills to interpret and respond to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

  • Customer service skills to respond effectively, professionally, and discreetly to a diverse range of populations at all levels of the organization including students, faculty, staff, and administration, while making independent decisions regarding workload priorities.

  • Keyboarding skills to prepare a variety of files accurately, sufficient to produce forms, memoranda, and other materials in an efficient manner.

  • Spreadsheet skills to manage downloaded information from various sources. Ability to enter, compile, store, and retrieve data to prepare various reports.

  • Transcription skills sufficient to listen to and interpret people's recorded speech without omissions and put it into correctly punctuated, grammatical sentences; edit materials for typographical and textual errors, assemble and certify completed transcripts and records; and review and edit reports or dictated materials for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper terminology.

Preferred Qualification 

  • Demonstrated commitment and success working in a diverse multi-cultural and multi-racial community.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete work assignments proactively and independently with frequent interruptions to meet deadlines.

  • Experience as an administrative assistant, support specialist, or other related position.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, D2L, and other similar software programs.

  • Ability to recognize sensitive/confidential materials and act accordingly while always maintaining confidentiality.

  • Experience utilizing speech-to-text software or similar technology.
