About the Role

Title: .NET Engineer

Location: Sydney NSW AU

Type: Full-time

Workplace: Hybrid remote

Job Description:

BizCover who? You haven’t heard of us?

We dominate the SME business insurance market by having an online platform that makes comparing and buying business insurance a super easy process. Not to toot our own horn but we have been recognized in Deloittes fast 50 companies as one of the fastest growing technology companies and Westpac’s top 20 businesses of tomorrow - #killingit

About the team: You will be joining our growing engineering team as part of a core scrum team contributing to real-world, high-impact projects. Rather than working on greenfield builds in isolation, your role will focus on improving and modernising our existing systems through practical work such as debugging, product configuration, and helping to migrate from legacy systems to our new platform. Your contributions will play a key part in ensuring the stability, performance, and usability of the systems that support our global customer base.

The Role: You’ll play a hands-on role in maintaining and enhancing existing systems, supporting our legacy-to-modernisation migration, and delivering real value to the business.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to product configuration tasks, identify and fix bugs, and continuously improve how we deliver software. While we are gradually building out our next-generation platform, much of your initial work will involve enhancing and supporting existing capabilities, ensuring a seamless transition for users and business operations.

Day to Day Responsibility:

  • Work within a scrum team to deliver valuable improvements to existing systems and services
  • Debug and resolve issues in legacy systems, ensuring stability and performance
  •  Support the migration from legacy platforms to modern services and architecture
  •  Perform product configuration to support new and existing business initiatives
  •   Collaborate with BAs to understand requirements and deliver working, pragmatic solutions
  •   Work with QA and DevOps to ensure robust testing, smooth deployments, and reliable operations
  • Actively remove blockers and contribute to team momentum

Requirements

Technical Skills:

  • A strong sense of ownership and follow-through, you finish what you start and push initiatives forward
  • Passionate about building software that solves real-world problems, even when working within constraints
  • Comfortable working with existing systems and codebases, and experienced in identifying ways to improve or modernise them
  • Practical mindset, you focus on delivering working, maintainable solutions instead of over-engineering
  • Recognise the value of clean, testable code and follow good practices like unit testing, code reviews, and documentation
  • Familiarity with product configuration and delivering features through non-code and low-code changes
  • Understanding of development workflows and tools (e.g. Git, CI/CD, ticketing systems)
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and collaborating closely with BAs, QAs, and DevOps
  • Technically capable with exposure to cloud environments (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, and relational databases (e.g. SQL Server)
  • Comfortable learning and adapting to both new technologies and legacy code

Must have

  • .Net 4.0+, C#, Web API, .Net Core
  • Automated testing frameworks and approaches (Unit, Integration, Acceptance/End to End)

Preferred

  • CI/CD (eg. GitHub Actions, Git, NuGet, NPM, TeamCity, Octopus)
  • Docker
  • SQL (SQL Server/MySQL/etc)
  • NoSQL (MongoDb)
  • AWS / Azure / Google Cloud experience
  • AWS SQS, SNS, Lambda, Cognito

Benefits

  • Hybrid working model with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days a week and a minimum of 2 days a week in the Sydney CBD office.
  • Exciting and rewarding team culture
  • Quarterly recognition awards
  • Business Casual dress code
  • Rewarding Employee Incentive Program
  • Growing company with progression opportunities
