What are your unique tasks?
The Multi-Faith Coalition Coordinator leads a team of volunteers representing faith communities, human services organizations, and Montgomery County government. The person serving in this role works to support the coalition in carrying out its mission to cultivate trust and collaboration between people from diverse faith communities and service organizations by acting as a convener to promote dialogue and resource sharing for the common good. The Coordinator will work to inspire the Coalition to reach its vision that one day, every faith community in Montgomery County will have equitable access to the partners, information and resources they need to meaningfully contribute to the public health of our region. In furthering the Coalition’s mission to meet and vision, the Coordinator will oversee the work of specific projects as well as of the Coalition’s committees (i.e., Faith Dialogue Committee, Resource Sharing Committee and Outreach and Event Planning Committee).
Work Schedule: Approx. 5-8 hours per week. Days and times are dependent on coalition needs.
Work Location: Hybrid, with in person attendance of required meetings and Multi-Faith Coalition events.
Key Responsibilities of the Multi-Faith Coalition Coordinator:
- Lead Coalition advisory board and committee meetings.
- Plan and attend Coalition events.
- Meet with Senior Director of Intersect for strategic planning and leadership of coalition.
- Explore opportunities for new funding through grants and support raising.
- Oversee the work of the various Coalition Committees carried out by Committee Chairs.
- Work with Marketing to develop and distribute Coalition Newsletters.
- Communicate with funders through ongoing meetings and formal reports.
- Lead various projects, task groups, and assignments that promote organizational growth
- Ensure various assignments are carried out in a pluralistic environment, which encompasses sensitivity to the religious needs of many separate religious denominations and faith groups
- Make efforts to expand the size of the coalition through engagement of various faith traditions, social service organizations and civic leaders.
Requirements
(Candidates who will be considered must meet some, if not all requirements)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, theology or a related field is required
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience working in social work (preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience working in ministry (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to work with people of all faiths or those with no traditional belief system (required)
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate effective partnerships internally and externally (required)
Knowledge, Ability, and Skills:
- Excellent grammar and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively build and foster a wide variety of community relationships with clients, donors, partners, and volunteers
- Knowledge of local faith communities and faith-based service organizations
- Knowledge of local social service organizations and systems of care
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to find meaningful solutions to complex problems
- Experience documenting and relaying information to ensure all program and client information are current
- Knowledge and ability to use computers and required technology platforms
- Ability to drive to meet with individuals and members of service providers/faith communities
