Job Description:
Alfred A Knopf, an imprint of the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, is seeking a Marketing Manager to join our team. You will have the opportunity to oversee all aspects of developing innovative title marketing campaigns and collaborate across teams on imprint-wide campaigns and initiatives. Working closely with the authors, you will be hands-on in the creation and execution of customized campaigns for hardcover and paperback publications across genres including literary fiction, mystery/thriller, history, memoir, cookbooks, current events, popular science, and more.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engaged and enthusiastic marketer. We are a close-knit team that welcomes creative thinkers and those excited to be working on high quality books for adults. The ideal candidate will be passionate about books and skilled in crafting and executing innovative marketing strategies for our fiction, nonfiction and backlist titles.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Create and lead innovative title-marketing campaigns based on market data and consumer trends to drive awareness, engagement, and sales of upcoming publications
- Manage title-marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, analytics, and budgets to help maximize ROI
- Develop social media strategies for titles designed to maximize engagement and connect with a book’s audience
- Liaise with Publicity, Editorial, Sales, and Audience Development and their larger teams to implement cohesive campaigns and promotions
- Communicate marketing updates to sales, authors, agents, and other stakeholders as needed
- Maintain awareness of the adult book market and publishing industry and suggest new and innovative ways to market titles to consumer, influencers, and booksellers

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in title marketing within trade or educational publishing
- Strong background marketing a mix of non-fiction and fiction titles is a plus, but not a requirement for consideration
- Proven ability to create strong, integrated campaigns including paid media and social media strategies
- Ability to set and meet goals under an established budget
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and other key stakeholders
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and thrive in a busy working environment
- Ability to work cross-functionally across the division and within the company
- Results-oriented, motivated, resourceful and able to work independently
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, influencer relationships, and best practices
- Knowledge of online marketing tools, design basics, and digital analytics a plus
The salary range for this position is $73,500-$75,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
This hybrid position has occasional in-office responsibilities, including but not limited to in-office meetings, book mailings, author visits or events, and daily ad hoc administrative projects. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
