Job Description:
The Portfolio, Sentinel, Optimism, and Thesis imprints at Penguin Random House are seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing Associate. This role is ideal for a digitally savvy marketer with a passion for nonfiction storytelling, audience building, and innovative content creation.
This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and is a key member of our collaborative and driven team.
The Marketing Associate will lead 5-7 author-facing marketing campaigns per year across a range of high-profile nonfiction titles. These campaigns require close collaboration with authors and agents, as well as with internal stakeholders across marketing, publicity, and editorial. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, experience managing significant social platforms and communities, and the strategic insight to bring impactful campaigns to life.
Our authors are internationally recognized economists, professors, CEOs, journalists, and movement builders. We are looking for someone who shares our mission of amplifying powerful ideas and helping our authors grow their platforms and connect with readers across channels.
Specific responsibilities include:

Develop and lead 5-7 full-scale marketing campaigns per year, working directly with authors and agents throughout each campaign cycle

Maintain strong author and agent relationships, delivering timely communication, creative strategy, and reporting

Plan and develop social content (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Facebook) for book campaigns

Provide administrative support to meet seasonal sales deadlines, create sales-facing presentations, update key databases, process invoices, and track inventory and bulk orders
Please apply if you meet the following minimum qualifications:

2–4 years of experience in publishing

Strong writing, communication, and visual storytelling skills

Experience with design/video tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar

Highly organized with excellent project management skills

Comfortable presenting campaign plans and results to both internal teams and external stakeholders
Preferred qualifications:
- Strong familiarity with the book industry and interest in nonfiction
- Experience working directly with high-profile talent, authors, or public figures
- Influencer marketing or creator outreach background
This is a hybrid position based out of our New York City headquarters at 1745 Broadway, with an in-office presence expected approximately two days per week
The salary for this position is $56,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
