Job Title: Junior Visual Designer

Job Summary

The Junior Visual Designer plays a vital role in supporting marketing efforts across Boyne Resorts' Michigan properties. Working primarily with The Highlands, Boyne Mountain, and Inn at Bay Harbor, you'll collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling visual assets that engage guests and enhance the resort experience. While focusing on these core properties, you'll also provide occasional design support for Boyne Golf's championship courses and assist Michigan Sales teams with marketing materials. This dynamic position allows you to develop diverse design skills across multiple resort environments while being mentored by the Director of Visual Design & Brand.

This role is ideal for a skilled junior visual designer seeking growth opportunities across diverse projects and platforms, enhancing the visual storytelling of a premier resort destination.

Responsibilities

Time Allocation

  • Boyne Mountain Support: Develop promotional materials, digital assets, and event graphics to showcase Boyne Mountain's diverse year-round recreational activities.

  • The Highlands Support: Create engaging marketing collateral, digital content, and property signage that showcase The Highlands' exceptional amenities and experiences.

  • Inn at Bay Harbor Support: Develop elegant visual assets that reflect the sophisticated atmosphere of this luxury lakeside resort.

  • Boyne Golf Support: Assist with seasonal promotional materials and digital content for Boyne's championship golf courses.

  • Michigan Sales Support: Occasionally contribute design assistance for Michigan sales initiatives.

Collateral Production

  • Design promotional flyers, brochures, and print advertisements for resort events and amenities

  • Create clear, on-brand signage and wayfinding materials for resort properties

  • Update and refresh menus, table tents, and food & beverage marketing materials

  • Edit and enhance resort maps, trail guides, and informational materials

  • Develop eye-catching promotional posters, banners, and on-property displays

  • Design seasonal collateral highlighting special offers and resort activities

Digital Design Production

  • Create engaging social media graphics and content for resort-specific channels

  • Design web banners, digital advertisements, and promotional assets

  • Update website imagery and promotional content to reflect current offerings

  • Develop email marketing templates and graphics that drive guest engagement

  • Create dynamic digital signage content for on-property displays

  • Produce digital assets for resort apps and interactive experiences

Event Support Materials

  • Design cohesive event signage, programs, and directional materials

  • Create promotional materials for upcoming resort events and seasonal activities

  • Develop presentation slides and digital assets for resort events and functions

  • Design display materials for travel shows, exhibitions, and community outreach

Resort Photography Support

  • Edit and optimize property and amenity photographs for consistent brand presentation

  • Create photo composites and image enhancements that showcase resort features

  • Prepare and resize images for various marketing channels (email, social, web, print)

  • Perform basic photo retouching, corrections, and seasonal updates to imagery

Day-to-day Design Requests

  • Execute timely design updates to existing marketing materials

  • Format documents and presentations for various resort departments

  • Resize and adapt graphics for different applications and platforms

  • Support quick-turn design needs for resort operations and special requests

  • Maintain consistent brand standards across all resort materials and touchpoints

  • Assist with creative brainstorming sessions for new marketing initiatives

Work Environment

This position is remote with travel to Boyne Resort properties in Michigan required. Michigan-based candidates are preferred. The role requires working in a fast-paced environment with varying seasonal priorities and collaborating with multiple departments and stakeholders across different locations.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field

  • 1+ years of design experience

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating versatility across print and digital media

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong design fundamentals with a keen eye for typography, color, and composition

  • Ability to work within established brand guidelines while bringing fresh creativity

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Basic photography and image editing capabilities

  • Understanding of digital and print production processes

  • Attention to detail and quality control in all design deliverables

  • Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills

  • Ability to receive feedback and incorporate revisions efficiently

  • Familiarity with current design trends and best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, or recreational industry design

  • Photo and video editing

  • Motion graphics skills

  • Familiarity with Michigan or the northern Michigan resort region
