Job Description:

Instruction Librarian

Part Time, 20 hours per week

Hybrid role - 3 days per week on-site in Harrisburg. 2 days per week remote.

POSITION SUMMARY

Develops and delivers information literacy programming in collaboration with faculty members. Creates guides and interactive online resources to support instruction and research. Assesses instructional efforts for continual improvement. Advises faculty on best practices in information literacy instruction. Engages in outreach and marketing of library instructional services. Answers reference questions and provides personalized research assistance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Develops, promotes, and assesses plans for promoting and teaching research skills.

· Teaches information literacy sessions across the university’s curriculum.

· Creates online guides and interactive tutorials to support student learning.

· Answers research questions and offers research consultations.

· Communicates effectively with faculty, staff, and students.

· Contributes to the achievement of library goals, including new program implementation and improvement of existing services.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

· Master’s of Library Science from an ALA accredited program or equivalent

· Two years of teaching experience post-MLS

· Ability to customize Springshare products (e.g. LibGuides, LibWizard)

· Demonstrated experience developing online tutorials

· Ability to answer reference questions using LibAnswers software

PREFERENCES

Ability/willingness to work late afternoon/evening hours.
