About the Role

Title: Indigenous Peoples Interpreter

Location: Edmonton Canada

Job Description:

  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent
  • Skills or Experience working with the general public and children

Asset:

  • Ability to speak the Cree, Michif, or other Indigenous languages, and/ or knowledge of Cree syllabics
  • Experience working in a museum, cultural centre, or historic site

Skills required for success:

  • Strong skills in traditional crafts and skills
  • Knowledge of Cree, Métis or other Indigenous cultures and histories

  • Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion

Conditions of Employment:

  • Current Intermediate First Aid and CPR is required prior to commencing employment
  • Hire is dependent on a Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Work Environment:

  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Successful candidates may be eligible for recall for the 2027 season

Up to 10 temporary, part-time positions for approximately 6 months

Hours of Work: Up to 39 hours over the course of the Summer, Sunday - Saturday with some, holidays, evenings, as required

Salary: $21.918 - $26.183 (Hourly)
