Job Description:
Are you a visual storyteller with a bold creative vision and the skills to bring it to life? The Prince William County Department of Economic Development and Tourism (PWCDEDT) is seeking a Graphic Design Manager who believes that great design shapes perception, builds connection, and drives impact.
About This Role:
In this role, you will serve as the department's design lead-developing concepts, creating visuals, and managing the execution of brand assets across digital, print, and experiential platforms. This position blends hands-on design expertise with creative direction and project coordination, making it a pivotal role on a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership
- Conceptualize and create compelling visual assets including reports, presentations, campaign graphics, social media visuals, print collateral, signage, and digital ads.
- Guide the visual identity of the department, maintaining brand integrity while innovating new design expressions for evolving campaigns.
- Translate strategic objectives into thoughtful design solutions that support storytelling, engagement, and public perception.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to align creative outputs with department-wide goals.
Creative Project Management
- Oversee the planning and execution of design projects, balancing quality, timelines, and workload.
- Manage a creative queue of priorities, track progress, and coordinate feedback across internal stakeholders.
- Optimize designs for use across digital, print, and environmental platforms.
Collaboration & Support
- Provide creative support to other team members-including the Digital Marketing Specialist and Events Manager-to ensure visual cohesion across all public-facing materials.
- Act as a design advisor for internal clients, offering expertise on layout, format, and creative direction.
- Represent the visual voice of the department in cross-agency projects and vendor relationships.
Innovation & Visual Growth
- Stay ahead of design trends, tools, and techniques to continuously raise the creative bar.
- Evaluate design effectiveness and audience engagement to inform future creative strategies.
- Work closely with Economic Development Marketing Manager to explore opportunities for motion graphics, interactive media, and video integration to expand storytelling potential.
Minimum Requirements:
- GED or High School Diploma
- 5+ years of professional design experience, including work on cross-platform campaigns.
Preferences:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to lead creative projects from concept to completion.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with an eye for detail.
- A sense of humor and a love of experimenting with new trends.
- A passion for thoughtful, strategic design and a refined visual sensibility.
- Passion for collaboration and bringing a playful spirit to team projects.
- Experience in economic development or public-sector marketing is a plus.
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite and strong visual design fundamentals.
