The Need
For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Global Director, Digital.
The Global Director, Digital will lead IJM’s global digital strategy, driving excellence across all aspects of digital marketing to elevate IJM’s impact, engagement, and growth. This leader will develop and execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy that spans UX, UI, advertising, SEO, PPC, analytics, and digital innovation to achieve measurable results.
The Global Director will guide a team of in-house experts and external agencies to ensure seamless execution, delivering exceptional user experiences and data-driven campaigns that inspire action and increase advocacy. By aligning global digital efforts and leveraging cutting-edge marketing technologies, this role will position IJM as a leader in the digital space, ensuring the mission reaches and mobilizes global audiences effectively.
This position is hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) if located in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. It reports to the Global Vice President, Marketing & Communications and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.

Digital Marketing Strategy Development

Design and implement a global digital marketing strategy that aligns with IJM’s mission, goals, and growth objectives.

Integrate all aspects of digital marketing—SEO, PPC, content marketing, social media, UX/UI, and analytics—into a cohesive and effective strategy.

Develop digital campaigns that inspire action and increase engagement with donors, advocates, and supporters.

Stay ahead of emerging digital trends and technologies, ensuring IJM’s strategies remain innovative and relevant.

Align digital efforts across regions, ensuring consistency while allowing for cultural and contextual adaptations.
User Experience (UX) and Interface (UI) Optimization

Oversee the development of intuitive and impactful digital platforms that enhance audience engagement and advocacy.

Conduct regular audits of IJM’s digital platforms to identify opportunities for improved UX/UI design and functionality.

Partner with design and technical teams to create best-in-class digital experiences, aligning with global marketing efforts. Drive seamless user journeys and inspire innovative digital solutions that elevate campaign concepts and execution.

Utilize audience insights to refine digital experiences that drive conversions and deepen relationships.

Ensure digital platforms are inclusive, accessible, and optimized for diverse audiences globally.
Performance Marketing & Growth

Lead paid media strategies, including PPC, programmatic advertising, and social media campaigns, to maximize ROI and achieve growth targets.

Oversee global SEO efforts to enhance organic visibility, traffic, and conversion rates.

Partner with content and creative teams to develop high-performing digital assets for advertising and campaigns.

Implement A/B testing and iterative optimization to improve performance across digital channels.

Drive measurable growth in supporter acquisition, retention, and engagement through innovative digital campaigns.
Data Analytics and Insights

Establish a robust framework for tracking and analyzing digital performance across all platforms and campaigns.

Use data insights to inform decision-making, refine strategies, and demonstrate ROI to stakeholders.

Develop dashboards and reporting mechanisms to provide transparency into the effectiveness of digital marketing efforts.

Collaborate with IT and data teams to integrate digital data with CRM systems, ensuring a unified view of supporter behavior.

Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making within the digital team and across the organization.
Team Leadership and Agency Collaboration

Build and lead a high-performing digital team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration.

Partner with regional and functional teams to execute digital campaigns that are locally relevant and globally aligned.

Lead the global digital marketing function, defining vision, strategy, and operational priorities.

Digital Campaign Management and Optimization

Oversee the strategy, planning, and execution of impactful digital campaigns that drive advocacy, donor engagement, fundraising, and brand growth.

Leverage data and analytics to optimize campaigns, ensuring continuous performance improvement and alignment with organizational goals.

Integrate multi-channel approaches, including social media, email, paid ads, SEO, and content marketing, for cohesive messaging and maximum reach.

Implement A/B testing and iterative processes to refine campaign elements and enhance results across platforms.

Collaborate with regional teams and external partners to localize campaigns while maintaining global consistency and brand standards.
Digital Innovation in Marketing

Advance IJM’s digital marketing capabilities by leveraging cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), to enhance campaign effectiveness, audience engagement, and growth.

Use AI/ML to analyze audience behavior, segment supporters, and deliver hyper-personalized marketing experiences that resonate with diverse demographics.

Implement predictive analytics to forecast campaign performance, optimize ad spend, and improve conversion rates across SEO, PPC, and social channels.

Explore innovative AI-driven tools, such as chatbots and automated email workflows, to create seamless interactions and elevate supporter satisfaction throughout the digital journey.

Training and Development

Empower IJM’s global and local offices with the skills, tools, and resources needed to execute world-class digital marketing strategies that drive advocacy, engagement, and fundraising.

Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on key digital marketing disciplines, including SEO, PPC, UX/UI, analytics, and content marketing, tailored to regional needs and capacity.

Create a centralized library of resources, templates, and guidelines to standardize digital marketing practices across all offices while allowing flexibility for local adaptations.

Establish a mentorship and support system to guide regional teams in implementing digital strategies, ensuring alignment with global objectives and local context.

Facilitate regular knowledge-sharing sessions to disseminate insights, best practices, and innovative approaches, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration across the enterprise.

Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training programs and support provided, iterating to ensure sustained impact and alignment with the evolving digital landscape.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
-
At least 10-12 years of experience in digital marketing, with a proven track record in developing and executing global strategies.

Graduate degree in marketing, business, digital media, or a related field preferred.

Experience managing digital teams and working with external agencies.
Technical Competencies

Expertise in SEO, PPC, programmatic advertising, UX/UI, analytics, and digital campaign management.

Strong understanding of marketing automation platforms and CRM integrations.

Proficiency in Google Analytics, Google Ads, and other key marketing tools.

Ability to analyze complex data sets and translate insights into actionable strategies.
