Job Description:
Job Summary
Field Supervisors play a vital role in preparing the next generation of professional school counselors. In this role, you will mentor, coach, observe, and support candidates enrolled in the School Counseling Educator Preparation Program (EPP) practicum and internship courses at Lamar University.
Field Supervisors partner with candidates, site supervisors, and university faculty to help bridge theory and real-world school counseling practice. Through observation, reflective conferencing, and ongoing formative feedback, Field Supervisors support candidates as they develop professional identity, ethical judgment, and readiness for independent practice in Texas schools.
Supervision activities are conducted in alignment with Texas Education Agency (TEA) and State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) requirements and under the guidance of the Lamar University School Counseling EPP. Field Supervisors serve as trusted mentors and professional liaisons between the university and school sites, contributing meaningful evaluative information that supports candidate growth and informs program decisions related to certification readiness.
This role is ideal for experienced school counselors who value mentorship, professional development, and contributing to the preparation of future colleagues in the field.
