Role Overview

Join GitLab's dynamic Regional Marketing team where you'll craft integrated campaigns that showcase GitLab's value to government agencies and public sector organizations through in-person and digital experiences. We're seeking an experienced Field Marketing Manager specializing with experience in the SLED markets. The ideal candidate will leverage their understanding of government procurement processes and decision-making to develop targeted marketing strategies that drive engagement and conversion with the internal SLED sales team.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Design and execute field marketing campaigns specifically tailored to state and local government and higher-ed prospects and clients.
  • Build relationships with key government stakeholders and decision-makers through events, webinars, and creative campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the sales teams to align marketing initiatives with revenue goals and account-based strategies.
  • Work with the Solutions Marketing leader and broader Product Marketing team to promote content that addresses the unique pain points and regulatory requirements of government entities.
  • Gather feedback from sales leaders and customers on public sector pain points to help inform marketing's messaging and positioning strategy.
  • Track campaign performance and optimize strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Represent GitLab at industry conferences, government forums, and trade shows.
  • Maintain current knowledge of government procurement trends, budgeting cycles, and purchasing protocols.
  • Leverage existing relationships with Public Sector media organizations to build an aggressive field marketing strategy to build pipeline and hit KPIs.
  • Present SLED Field Marketing strategy, insights and performance metrics to the SLED Advisory Board as requested by SLED Area Sales Manager.
  • Work with Carahsoft and other PubSec partners to drive key events. 
  • Ability to travel if needed and comply with the company's travel policy. Travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

 

  • 3+ years of B2B marketing experience specifically within the state and local government and higher-ed sector.
  • Proven track record in field marketing, including event management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes and decision-making frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, and the ability to distill down complex ideas in a variety of mediums (written content, presentations, and verbal communication).
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms and CRM systems.
  • Ability to travel if needed and comply with the company's travel policy. Travel up to 50%.
  • Able to coordinate program details across many teams and iterate and deliver in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, and the ability to distill down complex ideas in a variety of mediums (written content, presentations, and verbal communication).
  • Experience with account-based marketing strategies.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements for government contracting.
  • Understanding of public sector budgeting cycles and fiscal planning for the SLED market.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Public Administration, or related field.

The base salary range for this role's listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
