Summary
The Department of Creative Services and Publications is responsible for strategizing, conceptualizing, creating, and producing a range of publications and collaterals (print and digital) that meet the various needs of the university community. Creative Services & Publications, part of the Division of Enrollment, Marketing, and Communications (EMComm), is responsible for the design and production of all marketing materials.
The mission of EMComm, which oversees all areas of marketing and communications, as well as undergraduate admissions, is to tell BSU’s story and to increase student enrollment. The EMComm team of more than 40 professionals works collaboratively toward shared goals to ensure consistent branding, enhance messaging, and optimize platforms.

Position Summary
This role will design and develop compelling visual content for our website, social media and advertising campaigns, directly impacting student recruitment, community engagement and brand reputation, with additional responsibilities in print collateral design. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Web Designer, and have experience with HTML5 coding and Drupal. The Department of Creative Services and Publications is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Digital Designer to join our team at Bridgewater State University
Supervision Received: Director of Creative Services and Publications
Supervision Exercised: The Digital Designer, Staff Assistant may assist in supervising student employees and/or interns within the department.
Position Type: APA Professional
Tour of Duty: Monday – Friday, 8:30-5:00 (Saturday and Sundays as days off); This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA.
This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work in accordance with BSU remote work policy.
This is a full-time, 12-month APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Essential Duties
- Design and produce a wide range of visually compelling digital assets, including display ads, social media graphics, banners, email templates, campaign landing pages and infographics.
- Conceptualize and design campaign landing pages that are responsive, user-friendly and conversion-optimized.
- Collaborate with the Creative Services and Publications team and the marketing team to ensure brand consistency and high visual standards across all digital assets.
- Build and update HTML5-based creative assets, including animations and interactive elements.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and develop visual concepts, strategies and creative layouts that align with branding guidelines and marketing objectives.
- Assist with the design and layout of a wide variety of print materials, including flyers, brochures and postcards.
- Prepare and optimize design files for web and print production.
- Stay current with digital design trends, digital best practices and emerging technologies to ensure that our content is innovative and effective.
- Maintain and enforce the university’s brand identity across all digital platforms.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Digital Design, Graphic Design or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in digital design.
- Professional experience in digital graphic design with HTML5 knowledge and print design.
- Demonstrates proficiency with a suite of tools like Adobe Creative Suite, (including Adobe Animate, Adobe XD), Figma or Google Web Designer and Drupal.
- Exemplary design skills with a strong portfolio, with a wide range of digital design work. Looking for someone with a blend of design and technical skills. A designer who can not only create the visual look but also build it to function correctly with animations and interactive elements.
- Ability to work creatively and collaboratively with our internal creative team & external stakeholders to manage, design and execute digital projects from concept through completion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- High degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated yet works well with teammates.
- Other duties as assigned by the director of Creative Services and Publications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graphic design experience with print materials, and experience with motion graphics (e.g., After Effects, Premiere Pro).
- Experience designing for higher education marketing is preferred.
- Experience in optimizing landing pages, understanding of A/B and multivariate testing.
