Job Summary

Charitable Giving's Content Strategist/Multimedia Content Producer creates dynamic, on-brand content about CRS' mission to engage individual donors and deepen donor interest in support of the organization's programs worldwide. Specifically, this individual will bring CRS' lifesaving work to life by executing multimedia storytelling strategies with a goal of engaging large online audiences with dynamic content.

Roles and Key Responsibilities

  • In support of the CG Content Deputy Director, strategizes, conceptualizes, and produces innovative video and other multimedia content in support of a new comprehensive fundraising campaign.
  • Writes features, blogs, scripts, message and talking points, e-letters, e-newsletters and other materials as needed in support of CRS fundraising strategies.
  • Collaborates with other professionals across CRS Charitable Giving on multimedia projects and campaigns.
  • Carries out strategies that use digital media for fundraising campaigns, web pages, short videos, podcasts, e-newsletters, photo galleries, social media and advertisements.
  • Incorporates individual donor feedback and recent research findings as needed in support of CRS fundraising efforts.
  • Tracks multimedia projects and other communications requests.
  • Under the direction of the CG Content Deputy Director, works with consultants and vendors to expand capacity when needed.
  • Supervises one video/multimedia editor.
  • Travels to CRS programming around the world to direct content collection teams, take photos and videos, and conduct interviews with donors, staff members, partners and program participants.
  • Expertly employs consistent voice and tone for Charitable Giving's multimedia presence, in keeping with CRS brand, Equity in Storytelling and editorial guidelines.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, marketing, international development or related field
  • Minimum of four-six years of relevant work experience required
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory/management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with web, virtual reality and podcasts
  • Working knowledge of private-sector fundraising
  • Ability to write and edit in Spanish

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Fastidious research, writing and editing skills
  • Adapts to all varieties of communication, from print to web, news to features, blogs to annual reports, magazines to multimedia, essays to captions.
  • Track record of successful collaborations with writers, editors, print and web designers, multimedia producers and engineers
  • Detailed-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Proficient in video editing, videography and photography
  • Working knowledge of world geography, demographics, current events, humanitarian relief and development practices
  • Working knowledge of design principles for web, print and infographics
  • Proficient in software packages, including: MS Word (including all editing functions); Excel; PowerPoint; Adobe Creative Suite (including After Effects); project management tools, video and photo and video editing platforms (including Premiere Pro and Final Cut X)
  • Proficient in both Mac and PC platforms
  • Working knowledge of SEO (search engine optimization) and content marketing
  • Knowledge of latest web and content management/development programs
  • Expert storytelling and collection skills for photos, videos, podcasts and other multimedia
  • Available to travel to program sites around the world to capture content (via personal interviews, photographs, video, onsite direction) to share with audiences
  • Ability to work well across departments and country programs; build and strengthen relationships; encourage timely responses while respecting the demanding context of our overseas work
  • Creative, confident and communicative
