Job Description:
Viking Penguin is seeking an Associate Manager, Social Media to join our team responsible for marketing Viking, Pamela Dorman Books, Penguin Life, The Open Field, Penguin Books and Penguin Classics, imprints which publish a range of fiction and nonfiction from bestselling and award-winning authors. Reporting to the Assistant Marketing Director, the Associate Manager will work closely with the marketing team on strategy, content development, and execution for our channels as well as seasonal backlist promotions. In addition to working closely with the marketing team this person will also work with our imprint editorial and publicity teams as well as collaborate with our corporate teams.
About the team: As part of the Viking Penguin Marketing Department, you will work on books that shape national conversation and culture. We publish world-renowned academics and leaders who inspire new ways of thinking; beloved fiction authors whose novels make their way to the top of the New York Times bestseller list and into readers’ hearts; and wellness experts who arm readers with tools, insights, and encouragement to live fuller, healthier lives. Authors we publish include Amor Towles, Tana French, Richard Osman, Adam Grant, Martha Beck, Dr. Uche Blackstock, Maria Shriver, Matt Haig, and Rebecca Makkai, among many others.

This role is based in New York City and will require a minimum of 3 days in the office per week.
As the Associate Manager you will:
- Act as primary admin on @vikingbooks, @penguinbooks and @penguinclassics imprint social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube and other emerging platforms
- Manage and oversee social media content calendar, working with title marketers and designers on content creation, social photography and video
- Engage in community management across imprint channels
- Educate imprint teams on new social productions & platforms
- Provide regular reporting on imprint social growth and post performance; measure organic performance in real time to engage readers / respond to ever changing landscape
- Manage seasonal & thematic imprint-wide backlist campaigns, working with title marketers and marketing directors on strategy and content development
- Amplify emerging backlist opportunities, media tie-in opportunities etc
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years prior related experience in publishing, marketing, agency or social media, with experience working on creative and strategic campaigns
- This position requires a minimum of 3 days per week in the office. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance from our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
- Strong familiarity with online book communities (BookTok, Bookstagram, BookTube).
- Proven understanding of the social landscape, platform best practices and fluency in social media measurement tools and interest in emerging platforms
- Proficient with Photoshop
- Experience creating content for brand or author/personality channels; experience with photography and videography interest preferred
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, keep track of deadlines, and work collaboratively across teams
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and time management
- Excellent presentation and written communication skills
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere a plus

This NYC-based role is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities for a minimum of three days a week in the office. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
The salary for this position is $66,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
