The Associate Director for the RSENR Spatial Analysis Lab (SAL) will be responsible for all day-to-day activities related to both sponsored projects and income/expense activities and programming (excluding UAS projects). Supervision and management of a staff of ~10 exempt and non-exempt employees will require strong project management skills and the ability to delegate tasks, develop research protocols, translate project outlines into implementation plans, track budgets and ensure compliance with UVM, federal, and contract regulations. The AD will work closely with the Project Coordinator, Business Administrator, and the SAL Director to ensure projects are successfully completed and new projects are set up accordingly. With the SAL Director, leading and coordinating stakeholder groups to execute and communicate project scope and deliverables will be required to ensure timelines are met and services provided as per contractual agreements.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Education and experience equivalent to: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in geospatial project management and administration for environmental resources and monitoring.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a functional supervisory role for full-time staff
  • Demonstrated familiarity with research and income/expense projects including project developments, principles and methods, and data management.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, proven experience in leading geospatial teams in complex projects, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both remotely and in-person are required.
  • Strong GIS experience is required.
  • Experience creating GIS tutorials to train full-time and student employees is strongly recommended.
  • Ability to lead a team and use judgement of project needs with limited supervision.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous knowledge or experience working with urban tree canopy assessments, land cover, and change analysis geospatial data.

Academic research portfolio or strong interest in developing one.
