Summary
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Program (Musician)
Location: 16370 Wilton Way, Land O'Lakes, FL
Work Hours: Part Time/M-F between 8a-5p/2-3 days a week
Position Highlights:
The Artist In Residence (Musician) in the Arts In Medicine Program provides a healing environment through a wide range of expressive arts experiences to patients, families, visitors, and staff throughout the Cancer Center; conducts the Open Studio; brings various art forms/opportunities to the bedside and public areas; facilitates expressive arts workshops and special performances; oversees volunteers and practicum students; consistently serves as a resource for promotion of the Arts In Medicine Program and for the creation of an aesthetic and artistic environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff throughout the Cancer Center.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Professional Training Certificate in the expressive arts or equivalent.
- Experience in teaching/providing one-on-one and group interaction with patients, families, visitors and staff.
- Demonstrates knowledge in the expressive arts as an intervention within the healthcare setting.
- Experience in a healing arts program.
Responsibilities:
- Playing appropriate live music/facilitating appropriate expressive arts practice at the bedside of patients, in ambulatory areas for patients, caregivers and team members to relieve stress; enhance patient family centered care experience and improve overall comfort.
- Working with medical and clinical staff to identify patients who would benefit from a music/art visit.
- Responds to referrals in a timely manner, setting appropriate priorities regarding referrals for expressive arts intervention at the bedside or in clinics.
- Presents at local, state and national conferences by submitting abstracts that meet high standards and help to instruct others about the merits of a comprehensive Arts In Medicine Program within the oncology setting.
- Mentors and supervises AIM Program volunteers and practicum students that may assist in Open Studios or other Arts In Medicine programs.
- Serves as a resource for the promotion of the Arts In Medicine Program at Moffitt and for the creation of an aesthetic and artistic environment for patients, families, visitors and staff throughout the Cancer Center.
- Expand musical repertoire and develop new art practices to engage diverse populations and to continue to expand interest and opportunities for expressive arts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Minimum one year working in a healthcare setting or comparable experience.
- Knowledge of the emotional, cultural and ethical issues related to patient care in hospitals.
- Excellent empathic communication skills.
- Basic Computer skills in email, Microsoft office.
- Artist in Residence Musician:
- Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate music for specific patient needs.
- Three audio or video files that demonstrate musical proficiency on the primary instrument and diversity of repertoire.
- Musician Artist in Residence: A Certificate in Music for Healing and Transition or comparable education/healing arts certificate is required within 3 years of date of hire.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- A Certificate in Music for Healing and Transition.
