The 2025 Mannes Summer Piano Festival is seeking a highly organized and motivated Temporary Administrative Assistant to support the execution of this two-week festival. Reporting to the Festival Assistant, Mannes Sounds Festival, this position primarily focuses on the festival's administrative and daily operations, creating a positive experience for students, faculty, and guest artists.

The Administrative Assistant ensures the success of the Mannes Summer Piano Festival masterclasses, and performance workshops, and also staffs the festival's help desk in the lobby of Arnhold Hall.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the daily schedule of masterclasses, workshops, and rehearsals.

  • Staff the festival help desk, providing assistance to students, faculty, and attendees as needed.

  • Ensure classroom and practice room setups are ready for daily instruction.

  • Monitor festival spaces for scheduling conflicts and troubleshoot logistical issues.

  • Complete shared tasks in coordination with the Temporary Special Events Assistant and the Temporary General Operations Assistant as assigned by the Festival Assistant, Mannes Sounds Festival, including:

  • Assist with student communications, including sending out acceptance notifications to selected participants.

  • Address housing, travel and transportation needs for students, faculty, and guest artists - including airport and hotel check-ins for guest artists when necessary.

  • Monitor the festival email inbox and respond to all student, faculty, and guest artist inquiries.

  • Organize student and faculty schedules.

  • Support all pre-festival production needs, including event planning, drafting student & faculty schedules, producing festival materials (badges, print-outs, programs, etc.), and more.

  • Additional responsibilities as required.

SALARY RANGE

Hourly Rate: $25, paid on a biweekly basis

WORK MODE

  • Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely as assigned by the Festival Assistant, Mannes Sounds Festival.
  • This position may require availability for early mornings, late evenings, and weekend shifts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Background in music or performing arts is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team.
  • Comfort with high-energy, fast-paced environments.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in event coordination, arts administration, hospitality, or related fields preferred.
