The Finance Department is seeking an Accountant II for the Citywide Accounts Receivable Section. This section is responsible for facilitating citywide accounts receivable payment processing. Activities performed by staff include the accurate processing and accounting of Accounts Receivable and Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) transactions, accounts receivable payment adjustments, refund requests, penalty waiver requests, daily balancing, TPT revenue reporting, and the delivery of prompt and accurate information to internal City departments and the business community in a professional and courteous manner.
The Accountant II is responsible for planning, assigning, coordinating, directing, and supervising of accounting activities and staff in this section, in support of the Accounts Receivable Supervisor. They also evaluate operational performance indicators of subordinate employees and report directly to the Accounts Receivable Manager.
Duties include:
- Reviewing and maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers, SAP and Tax Mantra transactions.
- Formulating and administering policies and procedures.
- Consulting with and advising other City departments on recording transactions and fiscal records.
- Instructing employees on technical accounting and bookkeeping problems and the interpretation and application of rules, regulations, and accounting problems.
- Collecting data and preparing necessary invoicing documentation.
- Controlling account receivable activities.
This position may be eligible for hybrid teleworking options after training is complete and is implemented at the discretion of the Department Director.
The work location is at the Calvin C. Goode Building, 251 W. Washington Street, Phoenix AZ 85003; and the work hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

SALARY
Pay Range: $58,593.60 - $100,235.20 annually.
Hiring Range: $58,593.60 - $90,916.80 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years of professional level experience in accounting.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Recent supervisory and accounts receivable experience within the past three years.
- SAP experience:

- Calculating arithmetic calculations.
- Creating financial reports.
