Position Summary

National 4-H Council seeks an innovative Youth Voice Marketing Specialist to manage and execute the 4-H Youth in Action Program and support the success of the 4-H Youth Voices Platform function. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Youth Experiences, this role will also manage, coordinate, and prepare 4-H youths to serve as effective spokespeople for earned media and public speaking opportunities on behalf of 4-H and ensure their seamless integration into prospects and campaigns with other Council functions such as National 4-H Youth Events, owned digital media platforms, corporate partnerships. 

 

Responsibilities

Signature Youth Program Duties

  • Oversee operations and program implementation for the 4-H Youth in Action Awards program, including the comprehensive promotion, recruitment, evaluation, selection, and announcement of the scholarship winners.
  • Coordinate all communications and logistics for successful program implementation, including creation, delivery, stewardship or approval of marketing assets involving Youth in Action winners and finalists.
  • Support youth development through ongoing training, spokesperson preparation and mentorship for Youth in Action scholarship winners and finalists for all engagements
  • Lead event planning for youth spokesperson training and media events, including training plans, donor stewardship, logistics, etc.
  • Manage the thought leadership engagement and spokesperson experiences of Youth in Action winners and finalists.
  • Serve as the central point of contact to the Large Grant Universities (LGUs) in the management of Youth in Action Winners’ engagements and other youth spokesperson engagements
  • Manage budget, including program costs, donor funds, and scholarship payments.
  • Oversee and support execution of operational processes throughout the organization’s youth engagements to ensure effective and consistent youth protection and risk management. 

 

Youth Voice Marketing Duties

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to secure approval and delivery of marketing assets including storytelling content, social media graphics, and coordinating video shoots. 
  • Drive organizational connection to youth impact stories and thought leadership through initiating, creating and distributing accessible assets.
  • Oversee development of compelling storytelling content, ensuring appropriate coordination of story development, video production, talking points, scripts, and blog posts to showcase the impact of 4-H.  
  • Collaborate with PR or social media agency partners to generate 4-H media coverage and social content including arranging and covering radio, print, online, and television interviews/appearances – some of which may occur in the early morning, evening, or weekends. 
  • Draft, edit and disseminate communications materials such as bios, press releases, media/photo advisories, op-ed articles, and other materials as required. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Human Development or a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and training. 
  • Three to five years of relevant youth development, PR or marketing experience, with the proven capacity to successfully manage and execute projects in a professionally innovative and creative manner.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability and experience to engage with and motivate young people effectively. 
  • Consistent attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative and results-oriented mindset, with the ability to partner across business units, influence key stakeholders, and drive initiatives forward autonomously.
  • Documented writing skills with experience drafting communications and correspondence to engage key audiences and internal and external stakeholders effectively. 
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and work quickly and accurately under deadlines.
  • Must have a professional interest in youth development related issues. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience with 4-H or Cooperative Extension preferred (participant, volunteer or professional).
  • Demonstrated youth development experience as well as experience working with young people or supporting youth organizations. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite including Outlook and Teams. 
  • Project management experience preferred. 
  • Established track record of managing projects to successful completion, both on time and within budget.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to conceptualize new ideas and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing vendor and/or contractor relationships.

 

Travel Requirements: Travel may be necessary up to 20% of the time (local, regional, national). Would require travel by air, car or rail. Travel may take place during nights and/or weekends.
