About the Role

TAAF is seeking a creative and mission-driven Video Content Creator to bring our stories, values, and community impact to life through compelling video content. This individual will be responsible for shooting, producing, and editing high-quality short- and long-form video content across digital platforms (Instagram reels, TikTok, YouTube [shorts]), helping to grow TAAF's visibility, widen engagement, and inspire action.

The ideal candidate is a storyteller with a strong visual sense and experience developing video content from concept to final cut. This role will report to the Social Media Strategist and Marketing and collaborate closely with the broader Communications and Marketing team to ensure that video content matches brand voice, supports organizational goals, and amplifies the voices of AANHPI communities.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Production

  • Conceptualize and pitch story-driven video ideas that align with TAAF's mission, initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Develop, shoot, edit, and produce original video content for digital campaigns, social media, and live or virtual events.
  • Collaborate with the social media strategist to create ongoing content series focused on education, community, research studies, and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop and refine visual and narrative assets that support broader organizational goals.
  • Transform raw event footage into polished, brand-aligned videos using motion graphics, music, and sound design, ensuring all content meets accessibility and inclusion standards.

Digital Integration

  • Optimize video content for platform-specific requirements across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other digital channels, including formatting, captioning, and timing.
  • Support the development of content calendars and cross-channel digital campaigns to enhance reach, engagement, and storytelling impact.
  • Analyze content performance metrics (views, retention, engagement) and translate insights into actionable improvements in editing, storytelling, and distribution tactics.
  • Stay current on emerging video trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve content strategy and production workflows.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 5-7 years of experience in video production, filmmaking, or multimedia storytelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the full video production lifecycle, including concept development, scripting, shooting, editing, and final delivery across diverse formats and audiences.
  • A portfolio showcasing a variety of video styles (e.g., interviews, documentary-style, social-first content, explainer videos).

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar editing and motion graphics tools.
  • Experience with DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lighting, and audio equipment for on-site and in-studio shoots.
  • Strong understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, and composition.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards for video (captioning, contrast, screen reader compatibility, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for the mission of the organization and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Working Hours

  • Standard workweek is 25 hours, with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.

Location

  • New York City and San Francisco-based staff work in the office 3 days per week, and the other days remotely.

Benefits
