Job Description:

Overview

Presbyterian is seeking skilled and new Nursing Techs to provide care to our inpatient population. As a Nurse Assistant, you will help with procedures ranging from phlebotomy, wound care, bathing, data entry, and clerical work.

Type of Opportunity: Part Time (0.6 FTE/24 hours per week)Work Schedule: 12 Hour Nights

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One to three years experience preferred.
  • Formal medical technician or military training preferred.
  • CNA preferred
  • BLS required at time of hire

Responsibilities

  • Answers telephones and efficiently processes information, including accurately transcribing physician orders

  • Maintains correct census and bed status report; assembles and organizes patient charts daily

  • Maintains and accounts for office supplies; assists in keeping nursing unit clean and orderly

  • Monitors, collects, and records patient information including vital signs, weights, and other data

  • Transports patients and documents actions in the patient record

  • Supports nutritional well-being through tray delivery, patient set-up, feeding assistance, and accurate input/output recording

  • Assists with activities of daily living such as hygiene, positioning, and ambulation

  • Communicates pertinent information during end-of-shift handoff

  • Rounds frequently on patients and families to assess and address comfort and concerns, reporting to the responsible nurse as needed

  • Inserts and removes gastric and urethral tubes; performs enemas, disimpactions, and removes IV lines

  • Performs phlebotomy on designated units after completing specific training

  • Operates patient monitoring systems including cardiac and fetal heart monitors

  • Conducts bedside testing such as oximetry, ECG, glucometry, urinalysis, and other diagnostics

  • Performs wound care and dressing changes; removes staples and sutures

  • Assists nurses and physicians with sterile procedures and restraint application/removal under RN direction

  • Applies oxygen delivery devices as ordered; assists with portable and wall oxygen and ensures proper E cylinder storage
