Job Overview

Fairview Range is looking for a compassionate Unit Nursing Assistant/Ward Clerk to join our Women's Health and Birth Center (WHBC) in Hibbing, MN!

The Unit Assistant/Ward Clerk works under the direction of nursing personnel to provide patient care while functioning as a nursing assistant and as a health unit coordinator. Duties may include patient cares, vitals, bathing, feeding, answering call lights, transporting, care of environment (by stocking, cleaning, and maintaining rooms) and use of equipment, phones, clerical, transcription, and coordinate the flow of communication on the unit. May work as a patient care attendant.

Schedule: This position is part time, working 48-60 hours per two weeks, 12-hour Day/Night shifts and every third weekend.

About this unit

Our WHBC offers private suites to bring the comforts of home to your birth experience while caring for you with the very latest in medical technology. All RNs within the unit are trained to Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, and lactation support. Some RNs on the unit are Certified Lactation Consultants. We offer inpatient and outpatient lactation support services through IBCLC, CLC, and lactation trained RNs and LPNs.

• 10 beds, including 4 labor and delivery suites
• More than 300 baby deliveries annually
• IBCLC trained staff within department
• Care team includes OB Physicians, Maternal Fetal Medicine Physicians, Family Practice Physicians, CRNAs, RNs, LPNs.

Unit Assistant Job Responsibilities

• Performing delegated nursing functions to assigned patients including personal cares, ambulation, exercise, nutrition, specimen collection and vital signs.
• Performing newborn screens and documents results in EMR.
• Performing receptionist functions and clerical responsibilities.

Unit Assistant Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant course.
• Current BLS certification or attends BLS class within 3 months of employment and maintains certification. Current BCS or acquires within three months of employment and maintains certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of work performing similar job responsibilities.
• CNA
