Job Description:
Kilpatrick, a large international law firm, is seeking a Trademark Analyst for our Intellectual Property Department in our Los Angeles, Seattle or Washington, DC office. This position will be part of our team of attorneys, paralegals and support staff providing a high level of service to both internal and external clients. Under the general supervision of department attorneys, client teams and paralegals, trademark analysts work as part of a team to provide legal services for clients. Principal responsibilities are to provide trademark prosecution, administrative and billable support to the trademark client teams.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs trademark prosecution and enforcement tasks including but not limited to:
- Review official notices and registrations for accuracy
- Assist with powers of attorneys and legalizations
- Assist with change of address and chain of titles filings
- Draft reporting and reminder letters to clients and foreign counsel
- Create and maintain real-time tracking spreadsheets of active prosecution, enforcement and dispute matters
- Assist with post-registration maintenance, including research of use/specimens and conduct related use analysis
- Investigate online trademark use by third parties and prepare client reports
- Update client docket databases with prosecution/enforcement/disputes updates and manages related documents
- Maintain prosecution/enforcement/disputes status updates charts and assist with preparing weekly client meeting agendas
- Work on various other trademark projects as needed, both administrative and legal
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Four-year degree or equivalent experience
- Strong Windows based computer skills. Must be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (including advanced Excel skills with mastery over formulas and other Excel features for handling complex tasks) and database entry and maintenance
- Prior knowledge of Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint a plus
- Organize information efficiently and creatively
- Strong attention to detail; excellent grammar and proofreading skills
- Excellent organizational ability, including the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and a willingness to be pro-active in communicating deadlines, issues and other information to enable the team to function efficiently; ability to work with a team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multitask effectively
- Honesty, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
- Availability for after hours and weekend work, as needed
This is a full-time, regular position with a multi-faceted health benefit package including medical, dental, and vision. The firm also offers life insurance, short term disability plans and retirement plans in addition to holidays and paid time off. The firm offers hybrid work schedules combining in office work days as well as remote work days. The pay range for this position in Los Angeles, Seattle or Washington, DC only is $30.46 to $45.74 per hour.
