About the Role
Title: Surety Underwriting Assistant
Location: Owings Mills United States
Job Description:
Job Purpose: Support Surety Underwriters in broker management and all aspects of contract and bond creation and maintenance. Serves as mentor to Surety Underwriting Partners.
- Hybrid in Baltimore office, fully remote workers considered*
Bilingual in French preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain profiles for facilities and related bonds
- Liaison between underwriters and bond services team relative to bond registration, riders, cancellations, pricing and new bond creation
- Assists Surety Producer Services Coordinator with management of broker of record process
- Issuance of bond and facility renewal reporting
- Broker Relationship management
- Mentoring of Surety Underwriting Partners as the Bond Services team evolves into a more technical resource
- Maintenance of prospect and client files on the V drive
- Management of bond approval process
- Bond Documentation Management
- Develops fluency in rate calculations to support underwriters and brokers
- Creation and Maintenance of rate fillings
- Assist with fronting transactions
- Engagement with the larger Allianz-Trade organization to support the visibility of Surety within Allianz-Trade
- Works with Group to identify, resolve and test solutions for defects in AVALIS
- Takes responsibility for relationship management of major surety relationships which includes billing and problem resolution.
- Interacts with other business units around the world to support international fronting requirements.
- Analyzes bonds to determine validity and raises issues with broker partners as needed
- Analyzes and confirms classifications for bonds based on SFAA requirements
Key Experience:
- Proven success in a surety related role
- Established record of successfully managing multiple customer accounts
- Strong broker relationships
Key Requirements:
- At least three years of experience working in a surety function
- Undergraduate degree preferred
- Strong computer literacy, with proficiency in Core Microsoft Programs,
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a multi task environment
- Mentorship mentality
- Fluent in French a plus but not required
Key Skills:
- Ability to work in fast paced, service driven environment
- Exceptional internal & external customer service
- Established surety experience
- Excellent trouble shooting skills
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated & Team player
- Ability to function in an evolving role
- Adept in a mentoring role

Compensation range:
$70,000-$85,000
Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual's relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary ranges are only one component of our total compensation package.
