About the Role

Title: Supply Planner III

Location: Seattle United States

Job Description:

This role provides advanced leadership in supply planning across Wood Products—integrating production, inventory, and customer commitments. The Supply Planner III independently drives system‑wide decisions, leads cross‑functional coordination, and continuously improves planning processes to support reliable, efficient, and customer‑focused operations. Our ideal candidate is self‑driven, dependable, and innovative, with proven expertise in supply chain operations.

This position offers the opportunity to grow and excel within an organization that invests in its employees and contributes to a long‑standing industry leader. Interested candidates are invited to submit a resume and cover letter detailing their qualifications and experience.

At Weyerhaeuser, we pride ourselves on safety, integrity, and employee development. Our core values reflect a long tradition of excellence, commitment to sustainability, innovation in wood products, and dedication to doing what’s right.

We are honored to have been named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies® for more than 10 years. We invest in a strong company culture and regularly host events that enhance teamwork and support the communities we serve.

This is a hybrid role: Remote work on Monday and Friday, with in‑office presence Tuesday through Thursday at our downtown Seattle corporate office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage advanced knowledge of mill systems to balance weekly production, inventory, and customer requirements.

  • Independently optimize system‑wide output by evaluating capacity constraints, trends, and future production schedules.

  • Lead inventory strategy across the mill system, including finished goods levels, tallies, aged inventory, and offsite inventory movements.

  • Serve as the primary resource for mill schedulers and site operations on production planning and order file management strategies.

  • Provide leadership in S&OP and S&OE processes, driving alignment, cross‑functional decisions, and timely communication.

  • Develop, interpret, and maintain key supply chain performance metrics; recommend actions that improve results across sales, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.

  • Lead short‑ and long‑term problem‑solving for production, transportation, inventory, and order file disruptions, including recovery plans that minimize customer impact.

  • Support non‑mill sourcing strategies to ensure supply continuity and alignment with system‑level objectives.

  • Apply commercial insight—including customer priority, pricing, and product mix strategies—to influence and align planning decisions.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with sales, manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain partners to support collaboration and effective decision‑making.

  • Champion change management by navigating conflict, supporting process transitions, and reinforcing improvements in planning and operations.

  • Use supply chain technologies, reporting tools, and data analytics to proactively assess risk and drive decision‑making.

  • Lead or support cross‑functional continuous improvement initiatives that enhance supply chain reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • 4–6+ years of experience in sales, manufacturing, product management, finance, and/or supply chain roles.

  • Advanced knowledge of supply chain processes, including inventory management, production planning, logistics, and order file management.

  • Strong understanding of S&OP/S&OE with the ability to provide informed inputs, influence outcomes, and help set direction across stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate across teams, manage conflict, and build strong working relationships.

  • Proven problem‑solving skills with the ability to address operational changes, lead recovery efforts, and drive process improvements.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions, customer requirements, and supply chain disruptions; demonstrates strong risk‑mitigation judgment.

  • High proficiency in data analysis and the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations; advanced Excel or comparable analytical tools required.

  • Strong understanding of broader business operations, including sales channels, manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics.

  • Skilled in facilitating team decision‑making, offering counsel, presenting recommendations, and making autonomous decisions when needed.

  • Solid business and financial acumen with the ability to understand margin implications, cost‑to‑serve considerations, and trade‑offs.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or master’s degree preferred but not required depending on experience.

Desired Skills

  • Experience using and optimizing advanced planning systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, IBP, or similar) to manage complex supply networks, improve forecast accuracy, and drive data‑based decision‑making.

  • Advanced data analytics experience using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

  • Process improvement certification such as Six Sigma, LEAN, or similar.
