Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest, and most successful brands at Future, and work alongside a team of passionate science enthusiasts. Live Science is run by a global team of experts who have a keen interest in science, health, archaeology, and more.
- You'll write for Live Science about all things science, planet earth, animals, archaeology, space, health and more
- You will write news and features, attend events, and contribute to our social and video channels
- You will be at the cutting edge of reliable, informative and trustworthy science journalism, working in a talented and passionate team
What you'll be doing
Our mission is to empower and inspire our readers with the tools needed to understand the world and appreciate its wonders. As Staff Writer you will contribute to all areas of the brand - from news to features on site, to short video, podcasts and social media. You'll cover a range of science topics, combining your first-class writing experience with expert quotes and research papers, to craft reliable, up to date content that appeals to anyone curious about science.
Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, Live Science, you'll'
- Write news and features for Live Science's main website
- Upload articles to the CMS, finding appropriate images and related articles to link to
- Fact/source check all articles that you create, and ensure they fit Live Science's house style
- Work with our Social Media Editor on short video, social posting, and other off-site activity
- Interview and work with leading figures in science to make sure our features and news are informed by qualified experts, to provide trustworthy commentary on the biggest stories
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve
- Excellent written English, and knowledge of writing for the web
- Great knowledge of science topics, an ability to research and learn, and previous experience writing about the subject matter
- A desire to appear on social media to make visual science content for wider audiences
- An appropriate qualification or degree in sciences
