Description
The Staff Accountant is a professional accountant responsible for performing a full range of accounting skills in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and standards. This includes preparing financial statements, journal entries, financial data analysis, and general ledger and bank account reconciliations.
It also includes compiling, billing, and maintaining various grants. Handling and maintaining the fixed asset system. In addition, creating and maintaining periodic reports/analyses for internal and external uses. Assists with management of GVHC’s 340B Drug Program as well as participating in annual audit and budgeting process.
This is a hybrid opportunity, and may be required to report to the Atwater site two to three times per month. Initial training period will require working at our Atwater Administration site.
Schedule is Monday – Friday, from 8:00am – 5:00pm
Compensation: $85,924.80 - $90,221.04 Annual Salary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Utilizes accounting system, billing system, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Reconciles and analyze general ledger accounts and analyses to include but not limited to perform various complex general accounts analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and provides complex analysis and reasonableness tests for budgeting purposes.
- Coordinates and maintains miscellaneous grant billings and reports; verifies all billings are complete and reconciled to the general ledger; and complies timely grant expense reports as required by the grantors, including assisting to report on grants to ensure meet grant requirements.
- Monitors and submits all periodic financial documents as required by interested creditor, grants and government agencies.
- Participates in the month and year end processes, including preparation of financial statements, monthly journal entries, conducting, researching, and making adjustments and reclassifications of journal entries for account discrepancies.
- Researches, analyzes, and evaluates financial data to help resolve financial data questions/discrepancies.
- Maintains fixed asset system, which includes preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger to fixed assets system, and preparation of depreciation schedules. Responsible for fixed assets physical inventory.
- Calculates provider incentives on timely basis for payout.
- Prepares timely submission of various reports as required by external or internal entities such as business property tax filing, welfare exemption filing, census, etc.
- Participates in the annual audit by preparing and analyzing audit documentations.
- Assists with managing GVHC’s 340B Drug Program to include but not limited to ensure the program is continuously compliant with the 340B federal regulations, ensuring up to date on registration/recertification, perform/assist with self-audits/external audits on the program, review 340B contracts, recording of 340B transactions in accounting system, and assist to develops and modifies policies and procedures in accordance with state, federal, and program requirements, etc.
- Assists with preparation of annual budget as required.
- Assists in preparing various confidential analysis including reports for use in collective bargaining unit negotiations.
- Performs other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Min. Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Accounting methods, practices and terminology used in financial and statistical work.
- Computer systems, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and computerized accounting software.
SKILL:
- Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Physical Demands
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to pounds 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to sit at a desk or computer terminal for 8 hours daily. Work inside and outside including traveling between sites. Must have high manual dexterity.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Education/Experience Requirements
Training and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting required.
- A minimum of one (1) year of accounting experience required, two (2) years preferred.
