We’re looking for a dynamic Social Media Manager to lead the League’s presence across major social platforms. You’ll be a key part of an innovative, mission-driven Marketing & Communications team, working closely with colleagues across the organization to highlight the impact of our conservation work, field research, redwood park partnerships, and bold climate solutions.

Whether you’re creating a reel that brings our restoration work to life, building buzz around a major campaign, or elevating the voice of our community members, your work will help grow awareness, deepen engagement, and invite new audiences to join our cause.

Why join us? At Save the Redwoods League, you’ll work with a dedicated, diverse, and passionate team that believes in the power of nature to heal and inspire. You’ll contribute meaningfully to the protection of one of the world’s most extraordinary ecosystems and help shape a more connected, climate-resilient future.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Co-develop social media strategies with the Director of Marketing that support League-wide goals, campaigns, and audience growth.
  • Maintain and manage editorial calendars to ensure consistent, timely, and mission-aligned content.
  • Collaborate across departments to surface compelling moments, visuals, and stories—from scientific fieldwork to donor impact to public lands advocacy.
  • Use keyword and SEO insights to increase reach and relevance across platforms.
  • Stay ahead of trends, hashtags, and real-time opportunities to join meaningful conversations.
  • Center equity and inclusion in content strategy—prioritizing diverse voices and storytelling approaches.

Content Creation

  • Write clear, compelling copy tailored to the audience of each platform.
  • Transform field reports, blogs, videos, and staff insights into social-first content (e.g. carousels, reels, quote cards).
  • Design on-brand graphics using Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
  • Feature behind-the-scenes moments and staff stories to deepen connection with the League’s work.
  • Be comfortable occasionally appearing on camera for stories that benefit from a human voice and face.

Channel Management & Optimization

  • Schedule and publish content across platforms: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, BlueSky, Threads, and YouTube.
  • Apply platform-specific best practices to increase engagement and reach.
  • Support and manage the League’s CEO social channels to amplify thought leadership and advocacy.
  • Run occasional paid social promotions and analyze performance data to guide optimization.

Community Engagement & Advocacy

  • Foster an active and respectful community by responding to comments and DMs with care and timeliness.
  • Draft toolkits and suggested posts for staff, board, and Council members to broaden reach.
  • Identify and collaborate with influencers, ambassadors, and partners to co-create or amplify mission-aligned content.
  • Plan engaging formats such as polls, Q+As, and live events that encourage audience participation.

Brand Consistency & Collaboration

  • Uphold the League’s brand voice, tone, and visual identity across all content.
  • Work in sync with the Marketing & Communications team to align with messaging priorities and campaign calendars.

Measurement & Reporting

  • Track performance metrics using Meltwater and platform insights.
  • Report monthly on engagement, growth, and audience behavior—providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Use analytics to refine content formats, posting cadence, and storytelling strategies.

Qualifications:

  • 5–7 years of hands-on experience managing multi-platform social media for a mission-driven organization, brand, or public figure.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong grasp of tone, voice, and audience targeting.
  • Proven track record of creating compelling content that drives engagement and growth.
  • Skilled in visual storytelling using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and video tools.
  • Deep knowledge of current platform trends, content formats, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with online community building and organic social growth.
  • Comfortable managing executive channels and supporting leadership visibility online.
  • Ability to lead collaborations with outside content creators, influencers, or brand ambassadors.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills—able to balance multiple priorities with clarity and care.
  • A genuine passion for nature, environmental justice, and equity-centered storytelling.

Work Schedule:
