Job Description
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center- Cadillac Tower three times per week, at minimum. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical SEO Senior Specialist with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience to join our in-house SEO team at General Motors. This role will be integral to optimizing our diverse portfolio of digital properties, focusing primarily on technical SEO, performance analysis, and strategic implementation. You will work closely with internal teams, across media, site, analytics and performance, additionally you should be proactive individual who can independently identify opportunities, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive measurable organic growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical SEO Audits & Implementation:
- Ability to conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits of GM's websites, identifying issues related to crawlability, indexability, site speed, mobile usability, structured data, and international SEO.
- Work closely with development and engineering teams to prioritize and implement technical SEO recommendations (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript optimization, XML sitemaps, robots.txt, canonicalization, hreflang).
- Monitor and troubleshoot technical SEO issues, including server errors, broken links, and rendering problems.
- Performance Analysis & Reporting:
- Track, analyze, and report on key SEO performance metrics, including organic traffic, keyword rankings, conversions, and user engagement, using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Adobe Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, etc.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to communicate SEO performance and insights to stakeholders across various departments.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities within performance data to inform ongoing SEO strategies.
- SEO Research & Strategy Development:
- Conduct in-depth keyword research and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities for organic growth.
- Provide SEO best practices and strategic guidance for new website content, site refreshes, and ongoing content optimization.
- Collaborate on the development of page template requirements to ensure SEO best practices are baked into new development cycles.
- Stay up to date with the latest search engine algorithm updates, industry trends, and emerging SEO technologies, translating these into actionable recommendations.
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Initiative Ownership:
- Partner effectively with product, development, UX/UI, content, and marketing teams to ensure SEO is integrated throughout the digital product lifecycle.
- Proactively identify areas of support and provide expertise of designated SEO tasks and projects.
- Communicate complex SEO concepts and recommendations clearly and concisely to non-SEO stakeholders.
- Contribute to the overall SEO roadmap and strategic initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the GM Agency of record with above key responsibilities and helping to prioritize key initiatives

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of dedicated experience in SEO, with a strong emphasis on technical SEO and performance analysis.

- Proven track record of driving measurable organic growth through technical SEO implementations and data-driven strategies.
- In-depth knowledge of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and SEO best practices.
- Proficient with industry-standard SEO tools (e.g., Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, DeepCrawl).
- Solid understanding of web technologies and programming languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) as they relate to SEO. Ability to understand and interpret code for SEO purposes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, draw actionable insights, and present findings effectively.
- Experience with website migrations, redesigns, and new site launches from an SEO perspective.
- Foundational understanding of content SEO principles, including keyword integration, content structure, and user intent.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Proactive, self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a large, complex enterprise environment.
- Experience with various Content Management Systems (CMS) and their SEO implications.
- Knowledge of server-side SEO elements and configurations.
- Strong testing and conversion rate optimization (CRO) principles.
