This position is responsible for the underwriting, rating, binding, and servicing of all accounts as assigned to them in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner. This position handles the most complex and highest value clients, policies and quotes and works with Underwriting Leadership and gives input on Underwriting guidelines. This position works as mentor and assists underwriters with any escalated question, provides the necessary support to the overall production and objectives of the department.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Underwrite accounts to ensure compliance with guidelines, consult with leader on any "outside the box" risk for direction
- Quote accounts and present timely proposals to brokers.
- Review bind requests and documents received from borkers and request policies issuance as requested by broker, markets accounts when necessary
- Work with Leadership on any updates or efficiencies to processes that would benefit department
- Process legal notice of non-renewal or cancellations
- Monitor and work to adhere to established due dates or deadlines for quotes, completion of support team tasks
- Maintain up to date on department and carrier's procedures
- Maintain up to date on applicable Underwriting Guidelines, including underwriting and rating changes
- Refer accounts to carriers when appropriate
- Respond to inquiries and communication in a professional and timely manner, maintain positive relationships with external partners
- Document all communication in the Agency Management System
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Obtain and maintain state insurance license(s), as required by the State Department of Insurance to provide risk management consulting or risk transfer solutions as necessary in states where the firm functions (or be willing and able to obtain all required licenses within the first 90 days of employment).
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Accounting, Finance, Business, or other related concentration, is preferred. Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), SPHR or PHR is also preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of insurance and/or benefits related experience, including leading an account management team
SKILLS:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to learn appropriate insurance company and firm software systems.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to produce clear and effective communication to audiences.
- Capability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrates the firm’s core values, exuding behavior that is aligned with the firm’s culture.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Some travel is required.
