About the Role

Title: Senior Strategic Finance Analyst - Product

Location: Oakland United States

Job Description:

From Fivetran's founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We're proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Product Finance Analyst to join our Finance & Strategy team. This role is critical in supporting the financial planning and operational decision-making for our Product and Engineering organizations, with a focus on cloud infrastructure spend, product KPIs, usage analytics, and product top-line forecasting.

You will act as a trusted business partner to Product Managers, Engineering leaders, and cross-functional teams, helping ensure investments are well-informed, efficient, and strategically aligned. You'll also work closely with GTM Finance to translate product metrics into actionable top-line insights and forecasting. This role reports to the Director, Product Finance, and provides significant exposure to company-wide initiatives and C-level stakeholders.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Oakland, CA office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

Technologies You'll Use

G-Suite, NetSuite, Anaplan, Looker, Pigment, SQL and internal data infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Own Forecasting & Budgeting: Support and improve the forecasting of infrastructure and product-related costs, including cloud spend (AWS, GCP, Azure), tooling, and headcount

  • Drive Financial Insights: Maintain and analyze Product KPIs such as adoption, retention, usage volume, cost efficiency, and margin contribution across products and features. Develop usage-based financial models by segmenting data across connectors, regions, consumption tiers, and feature sets to influence pricing and investment decisions. Identify spend anomalies and cost drivers, and provide data-driven recommendations to improve gross margin and operational efficiency.

  • Product-GTM Forecast Alignment: Collaborate with GTM Finance to incorporate product-level insights into top-line target setting and forecasting. Analyze the financial impact of product performance trends on revenue, and partner on growth strategies tied to product activation and expansion. Support scenario modeling to align product strategy with pipeline performance, retention cohorts, and ARR growth targets

  • Standardize and Scale Reporting: Partner with Analytics, RevOps and System Engineering to build scalable dashboards and financial models to streamline reporting and improve forecast accuracy. Act as a data translator, ensuring product and engineering stakeholders can leverage financial insights for action

  • Cross-functional Influence: Be a go-to finance contact for the Product org and support other finance partners across GTM and Ops to align on margin goals and shared objectives. Assist in financial planning cycles, including Long-Range Plans (LRP) and Annual Operating Plans (AOP), with a focus on product infrastructure costs.

Skills We're Looking For

  • 2-4 years of experience in FP&A, product finance, investment banking, management consulting, or similar roles with exposure to tech/SaaS.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud spend analysis (AWS, GCP, Azure) or infrastructure-related financial planning is a strong plus.
  • Strong understanding of product metrics and SaaS usage analytics; ability to translate them into financial insights.
  • Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and SQL; comfortable querying large datasets and building decision support models.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and planning platforms (Anaplan, Pigment, Adaptive Insights).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw actionable insights and communicate complex topics to non-finance stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Demonstrated business partnering experience-collaborative, adaptable, and proactive.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in cloud infrastructure finance or unit economics modeling
  • Familiarity with SaaS product lifecycle KPIs and product-led growth dynamics
  • Understanding of GAAP, COGS vs OpEx classification
  • Prior exposure to Product, Engineering, or R&D finance
  • FinOps or cloud certification is a plus
  • Experience building scalable, repeatable reporting frameworks and process improvements
