About the Role
Title: Senior Quality Engineer
Location: San Francisco United States
Job Description:
What You'll Do
- With an automation first mindset, develop and enhance software automation (functional including regression, smoke/end to end testing, etc., non-functional including web accessibility, etc. as well as backend API testing) to enable high quality and rapid software delivery (20%).
- Perform exploratory and manual testing to supplement missing or difficult to automate test cases (20%).
- Act as an industry expert and speak the language of the customer, so they are always represented when features are being built (5%).
- Act as a multiplier of Quality by leading the scrum team in quality and testing methodologies, sharing their expertise and up-leveling their teammates, and injecting high quality standards throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (10%).
- Work closely with our Infrastructure Engineering team to ensure fast and stable CI/CD pipelines support theirs and other Ontra development team's delivery.
- Be a reliable and consistent team player (5%).
- Work closely with their teammates to get the job done, and keep everyone in a tight feedback loop to prevent issues, bugs, and missed opportunities (20%).
- As an SME of quality engineering, provide opinions, help, and (in)formal mentoring (10%).
- Participate in hiring panels to enable Ontra to scale the Quality Engineering organization per the business needs (10%).
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field, or foreign equivalent
- 7 years of relevant quality engineering experience in Senior Automation Engineer, Member of Technical Staff, Qualify, Senior Associate- project or relevant positions.
- This position also requires:
- 7 years of UI and API Test Automation experience;
- 7 years of experience in Test Cases Creation;
- 7 years of experience in Defect Management;
- 7 years of experience in tests troubleshooting and triaging;
- 2 years of experience using JavaScript/TypeScript;
- 2 years of experience using Cypress and/or Playwright;
- 2 years of experience using CI CD Integration;
- 2 years of experience using Mentoring QEs;
- 2 years of experience with Non Functional Testing (Web A11y);
- 2 years of experience with Cross Functional Team skills, and
- 2 years of experience with Observability and Monitoring.
This position is 100% remote within the U.S. and will spend 5% of time traveling for company and team off-sites, and internal meetings within the U.S.
