Location: UK, Europe OR US/EST (Remote)

Type: Contract

Workplace: Fully remote

Job Description:

Department: Product Team
Location: UK, Europe OR US/EST (Remote)
Type: FTC (Fixed-Term Contract) OR Freelance

Nexus Studios is a global creative studio working with award winning directors across animation, artful live-action and immersive to redefine the boundaries of entertainment. Our work has received accolades from BAFTA, Emmy, Grammy, Annie and Academy Awards, Cannes Grand Prix and we were the most awarded UK production company at Cannes Lions in 2022. We work with the world’s leading cultural brands and have a deep rooted history in innovation, XR and crafted storytelling.

We’re hiring a Senior Motion Designer to lead the development of a motion system that lives at the heart of both our brand and product experience.

This role is about building a motion language that’s expressive, intentional, and systematized—something that not only brings the brand to life in storytelling and campaigns, but directly informs how the product feels to use. You’ll define how things move, respond, transition, and behave across screens, environments, and contexts. What you create will show up everywhere: in films, apps, interactions, and the operating system of the brand itself.

You’ll work closely with brand designers, UX teams, and engineers to shape a unified motion system—one that feels thoughtful, emotive, and dynamic, but always functional. This is a pivotal role that requires craft, clarity, and a deep understanding of how design systems work across mediums.

Requirements

What you’ll do:

  • Define motion principles and behaviors that connect brand identity to product interaction.
  • Create foundational studies and motion libraries that guide everything from logo animation to in-app microinteractions.
  • Prototype motion across key use cases—narrative, UI, social, film, and spatial/digital environments.
  • Collaborate across disciplines (brand, UX, dev, film, spatial) to ensure consistency and clarity in execution.
  • Build repeatable systems, but know when to break the rules to make something feel special.

What we’re looking for:

  • 8–12 years of experience in brand design, motion systems, or interaction design.
  • A portfolio that shows motion systems in action across brand and/or product environments.
  • A perspective on how motion can build emotional connection and usability in digital spaces.
  • Strong After Effects and Figma skills, with working knowledge of prototyping tools like Principle, Lottie, Framer, etc.
  • Solid understanding of timing, rhythm, and animation logic—especially in interface or system design.
  • Experience working in design-forward studios or brand environments (e.g. COLLINS, Pentagram, The New Company, Porto Rocha, etc.).

Nice to have:

  • Experience with 3D, real-time engines (Unreal, Notch) or spatial design tools.
  • Familiarity with code-based creative platforms like Processing, p5.js, TouchDesigner, or Houdini.
  • Comfort working with creative developers and engineers to bring motion into product environments.

Benefits

This is a Nexus-led role, embedded in a highly collaborative, partner-facing development environment. You’ll help shape the way fans experience sports in XR—from how they press play to how they control, explore, and feel part of the action.

If you're excited about building the future of fan engagement through smart, human-centered design—we’d love to talk.

Nexus Studios is proud to work with extraordinary talent as an equal opportunity employer. We embrace individuals of all backgrounds regardless of gender, race, age, abilities or sexual preferences. Our recruitment process is merit-based, ensuring fair treatment to every applicant.
