Job Description:
Who We Are
UnitedMasters is building a marketplace that connects artists, brands and fans - empowering artists to earn and grow. UnitedMasters has taken the bold step of building a music distribution service that, radically, puts artists first - disrupting the legacy music business by letting up-and-coming artists distribute their music directly to fans through streaming services while maintaining ownership of their master recording rights and up to 100% of royalties. Through the combination of UnitedMasters’ music distribution platform and its deep ties to brands, UnitedMasters enables independent artists and change-makers to grow and earn unlike any other platform.
The UnitedMasters team is made up of musicians, marketers, engineers, and storytellers with backgrounds from YouTube, SoundCloud, Pandora, Facebook, Uber, Dropbox, Complex, VICE, and more. We work hand in hand with the award-winning creative teams that forge those innovative partnerships at Translation (our in-house creative advertising agency).
We are looking for a Sr. Manager of Commerce to join UnitedMasters! The Senior Manager will handle commerce for all clients—including Partner Artists and Label Services clients—while supporting broader departmental initiatives and assisting both the Director of Commerce and Head of Commerce in strategic and operational priorities.
This is a hybrid role with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote.
What You'll Do
- Support and execution of commerce strategies for UnitedMasters’ Partner Artists and Label clients, driving streaming revenue, audience engagement, and DSP visibility.
- Serve as a primary contact for DSP partners (Pandora, SoundCloud, Tidal, AudioMack, TouchTunes and others), managing day-to-day account relationships, securing editorial placements, playlisting, and marketing opportunities.
- Support the Director of Commerce and Head of Commerce by assisting with strategic planning, client escalations, DSP account management, and operational initiatives across the Commerce department.
- Collaborate with the Director of Commerce to refine and implement commerce strategies for Partner Artists and label clients.
- Support clients in enhancing streaming marketing plans, developing rollout strategies, and strengthening relationships with DSPs.
- Develop and execute playlisting, digital marketing, and campaign strategies for new releases and priority catalog items for both artist and label clients.
- Monitor streaming performance, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to optimize campaigns and maximize DSP visibility.
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives with Marketing, Artist Relations, Product, and other internal teams to ensure commerce strategies are aligned with broader company goals.
- Help represent the Commerce department in client-facing meetings and internal strategy sessions, providing guidance and resolving commerce-related issues.
- Collaborate with the Director of Commerce to oversee DSP-related budgets and promotional spends to maximize visibility and revenue.
- Stay current on industry trends, DSP updates, and social media developments to inform commerce strategies and identify new opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in the music streaming ecosystem, with a strong understanding of commerce strategies and DSP best practices.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with DSPs, ensuring effective communication and securing editorial, playlisting, and marketing opportunities.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret streaming data and apply insights to improve commerce strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
- Creative problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to think strategically about streaming and digital marketing initiatives from both an artist and label perspective.
- Proven track record in ideating, implementing and executing commercial marketing strategies and campaigns.
- Experience with educating artists and labels on best practices and streaming strategies to set them up for long term success and growth.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4-6 years of experience in Commerce, Streaming, Digital Sales, Partner Relations, and/or Digital Account Management at a music distribution company or record label, with a focus on supporting artists and labels.
- Established relationships with DSP contacts and a track record of securing editorial, playlisting, and marketing opportunities for labels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in driving streaming revenue growth and visibility for label clients through effective commerce activations and partnerships.
- Track record of overseeing partnerships with streaming services.
