Universal Orlando Resort believes in-person collaboration is key to our success. Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Communications, is an experienced, dynamic, and strategic leader responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication plans – both local and global in scope – that align with the company’s business objectives and initiatives and that advance understanding and awareness of the company’s vision and ambitions. This role will also focus on helping to advance UDX’s Employer of Choice ambition and programs, engaging employees through compelling content, organizational updates and storytelling, and ensuring a consistent and effective flow of information across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a passion for employee communications, an editorial and journalistic mindset, and experience managing events and roadshows that engage targeted audiences. The Senior Manager also oversees the production of a global editorial content calendar, working with peers across all Destinations, Divisions and Functions to ensure company content resonates and celebrates advancements across the entire employee population while also evaluating the effectiveness and reach of messaging and programs. The Senior Manager will also help key executive leaders and directly support the Global Group Head of our Talent & Culture team with communications content, as needed. This leader supervises an individual and will collaborate with a community of communicators around the globe, helping to tell the story of our company as an employer of choice. The Senior Manager is a visible role, a strategic thinker, strong communicator and trusted partner who is adaptable and supports open communication and trust and who excels in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This individual must also be comfortable building relationships and influencing through others to drive outcomes.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communication Planning
- Develop and implement communication objectives and plans, inclusive of strategies and tactics, that support business priorities and initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and messaging.
- Partner with senior leadership and key stakeholders to craft clear, engaging, and effective communication content and messaging that resonates with various employee audiences.
- Continuously measure and assess the impact of communication initiatives, using insights to refine strategies and improve effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities and benchmark best practices to expand the reach and resonance of communication channels.
- Editorial Content Development and Channel Oversight
- Oversees and managers the production of all company publications (digital or print), email, digital, video, social and web platform/Intranet content. Reviews and edits content, ensuring messaging is clear, balanced, engaging, and effective. Provides timely and constructive feedback to content producers. Manage outside vendors, as appropriate and ensure delivery of aligned to scopes of work.
- Partners with other groups to ensure TM-focused social content aligns and supports overall plans and strategy. Ensures brand, voice, and IP standards are represented accurately.
- Drive implementation and alignment of UDX editorial content strategy and own internal-facing editorial content calendar to deliver consistent, high-quality messaging across internal channels, that also enhances and amplifies Destination and Division-level content.
- Identify, source, and create compelling content that tells the company’s story, showcases key initiatives, and amplifies employee voices.
- Culture Building, Storytelling and Engagement and Events
- Proactively identify, source, and develop stories that reflect company values, culture, and key initiatives for use in various mediums and formats
- Engage with employees at all levels to uncover impactful narratives that enhance internal brand awareness and foster a sense of community.
- Work closely with HR, leadership, and other departments to ensure a cohesive and compelling internal storytelling approach.
- Generates editorial programming that tells our powerful Team Member stories to inspire our internal audience and build affinity with our external audience.
- Support the planning and execution of internal events, town halls, and leadership roadshows to enhance employee engagement and alignment.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure their messages are delivered effectively, using the right channels and formats to reach employees.
- Manage logistics, content development, and post-event engagement strategies to maximize impact.
- Client Partnerships and Team Leadership
- Fosters effective relationships with our key client groups and divisional partners. Leads cross-functional task forces, as identified, that serve to collectively elevate company communication initiatives. Identifies opportunities for enhanced collaboration with divisional partners.
- Provides leadership, support, and development to direct reports and functional subject matter experts ensuring that they have the development and skills necessary to provide a consistent delivery of performance.
- Measurement & Analysis
- Evaluates and monitors data (email, social media, web platforms; survey results, etc.) and develops actions plans to address the analysis. Identify opportunities to increase the capture of metrics to further enhance the analysis of the impact of our messaging.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years’ experience working in Communications is required, including 1+ year of supervisory experience.
- 1+ year of experience at Universal Orlando preferred.
- Public Relations, or Advertising experience preferred.
- Knowledge of media, working with journalists and social media a plus.
- Graphic design and ability to translate written content into visual formats a plus; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Must be comfortable with Adobe Creative Suite tools and have some working knowledge of HTML and web design.
- Proven ability to use research and insights to plan, develop, execute and evaluate communications plans in support of company initiatives. Works collaboratively across functions, divisions, and locations.
- Experience with high impact communications, both internal and externally focused that have generated measurable results. Must have entrepreneurial spirit and execute within a corporate environment.
- Have proven track record with senior leadership engagement, with a results-focused track record of team engagement and retention.
- Competence in dealing with sensitive or controversial matters on a frequent and recurring basis and ability to effectively apply issues and crisis capabilities to mitigate risk and organizational impact.
- Ability to be nimble and adapt, demonstrating effectiveness at handling multiple concurrent, often conflicting priorities.
- Ability to produce content aligned to storytelling strategies and effectively measure its performance.
- Effectively sell-in programs and ideas to internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience developing and publishing content on internal and external communication platforms including employee newsletter, intranets, LinkedIn and Medium.
- Knowledge of external communications is a plus, with an ability to work collaboratively across global communication groups
