The Senior Human Resources Generalist supports Uponor’s Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) organization by providing hands-on HR guidance and partnership to leaders, employees, and other HR Generalists/HR Managers across multiple locations. In addition to day-to-day HR work, this position will provide HR support on employment-related issues and key HR processes (Compensation Administration, Job Changes, Open Enrollment, Performance Reviews, Benefits, etc.) as directed by the HR Managers, including reporting and follow-up, analytics on key metrics and maintenance of key HR Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). This position should demonstrate effective communication and follow-up, modeling behaviors in line with the Company’s values and strategies, coordinating with other functional areas to achieve Company objectives. This position requires the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information and to foster trust both within the HR Team and with employees throughout the organization.

 

This role is considered a hybrid position. The ideal candidate will be located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area with periodic onsite work at our North American manufacturing headquarters in Apple Valley, MN.

 

What you will be doing?

Employee/Manager Support

  • Provide day-to-day guidance to support employees and leaders with policy interpretation, benefits/payroll/leave of absence questions, etc.

  • Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies and programs in the areas of Compensation/Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Development, etc. working closely with other HR generalists to ensure consistency and legal compliance. This requires effective communication with both day and night shifts and occasional flexibility with schedule, as needed. Is responsible for supporting a senior leader or large company-wide program/process.

 

Employee Relations

  • Demonstrate a proactive, problem-solving approach in providing guidance on employee relations issues, including employee conflicts, performance issues and terminations, assisting HR Generalist and escalating to Human Resources Manager, as necessary.

  • Coaches, counsels, and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions and terminations.

  • Keeps accurate records and notes on significant matters which could have legal implications.

 

HR Systems/Process

  • Enters or approves various tasks within the Workday HRIS (Job Changes, Compensation Changes, Job Requisitions, Terminations, Annual Performance Review Process, etc.) ensuring timely and accurate entries. Performs regular data quality audits and makes needed corrections or maintenance.

  • Helps to reinforce annual completion deadlines by following up with managers or employees, as necessary (annual Performance Reviews, Engagement surveys/action plans, etc.).

  • Launches goal setting and other HR processes for new hires; provides user support/troubleshooting to leaders and employees on routine Workday tasks.

  • Runs reports, as assigned, and monitors data for key insights and trends to be shared with HR Managers.

  • Supports other system-related needs such as retrieval of terminated employee emails for managers and viewing security camera footage to aid in investigations or other issues.

 

Reporting/Analytics

  • Performs regular data quality audits, identifying and making needed corrections to ensure system accuracy.

  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the HR team for corrective action and continuous improvement.

  • Responds to Unemployment Claims for assigned employee group.

 

Employee Experience

  • Coordinates the process for employee retirements and associated tasks.

  • Models company values and build effective relationships with employees and HR peers. Helps ensure consistency for all employees by documenting/maintaining team SOP and identifying areas of improvement. Supports the HR Team with Engagement surveys and other sources of employee feedback, including reporting and data analysis to identify key insights. Regularly monitors the HR inbox for employee questions/issues, replying promptly or escalating to others, as necessary.

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices through ongoing training, seminars and education. Upholds confidentiality and discretion with sensitive and protected employee information.

What will you need?

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field

  • 5+ years HR Generalist experience in a Manufacturing company or similar industry

  • Proven ability to build effective partnerships and work cross-functionally with all levels within the organization

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

  • Strong problem-solving skills by using resources to reach the most effective outcome

  • Self-starter who can work effectively with minimal supervision

  • Must be able to multitask, balancing several projects and priorities at once

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral

 

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in human resources or related field

  • Experience effectively supporting organizations through change and/or significant growth (preferred)

  • Experience supporting a multi-shift, 24/7 organization

  • Experience using WorkDay

 

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: 

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or other HR certification (preferred)
