Job Description:

The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a Senior Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure located in our Rosemont, IL. office responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting cloud infrastructure for the AAD's clinical data registry DataDerm environment as well as organization cloud infrastructure. Responsible for working with vendors and cloud providers to develop optimized scalable and secure environments. Monitor and manage environments for cost and security. Provide technical support and leadership to registry staff and I.T. developers regarding best practices and compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand data registry needs and work closely with partners to ensure technical solutions are properly implemented, secured, and audited.
  • Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure for organizational technology needs. Ensure solutions are optimized for cost and security.
  • Consult with internal stakeholders on best approaches for leveraging cloud infrastructure and ensure best practices are followed.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to auditing cloud infrastructure and provide reports on a regular basis related to access, data storage, and cost.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to applications in all cloud environments and develop solutions to ensure continuous operation of critical applications.
  • Work with developers to understand application implementation and hosting needs and provide guidance on best practices for leveraging securing their work in the cloud.
  • Automate and standardize cloud deployments and infrastructure provisioning using infrastructure-as-code and Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Delivery (CD) tooling (e.g., Azure Bicep), ensuring repeatable, secure, and auditable releases.
  • Provide backup support for DevOps and application hosting platforms (e.g., GitHub Actions, container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, and related services), helping maintain reliable delivery pipelines and continuous operation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management of Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum six years of experience establishing and supporting cloud infrastructure, specifically in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience working with personal healthcare information (PHI) and HIPAA/HITECH compliance.
  • Security certification specifically related to cloud infrastructure/applications preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of providing and managing enterprise cloud infrastructure resources, specifically in Microsoft Azure.
  • Thorough knowledge of securing and auditing access in cloud environments.
  • Experience with scripting in cloud environments to automate provisioning and management of resources.
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts and projects related to cloud technology implementation and management.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation (e.g., Azure Bicep; ARM/Terraform acceptable).
  • Familiarity with cloud cost management and optimization practices in Azure (budgeting, right-sizing, reserved capacity, etc.)
  • Experience supporting Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines and DevOps platforms for infrastructure/app deployments (e.g., GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps) is a plus.
