About the role

We're looking for a Senior Editor with strong experience in manga publishing to manage manga and other illustrated titles from start to finish. Reporting to the Senior Director of Publishing, you'll oversee editorial quality, design, and production timelines while collaborating closely with authors, translators, designers, and printers. Projects may include manga, artbooks, catalogs, calendars, guidebooks, box sets, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all editorial stages of assigned titles, from materials receipt to final print and ebook versions (manga, artbooks, catalogs, diaries, calendars, guidebooks, box sets, and more)

  • Draft and edit texts (summaries, author bios, press kits); adapt translations including onomatopoeia

  • Coordinate and approve covers, jackets, colophons, layouts, and other design elements; can create visual communication elements (graphics, logos, signage)

  • Review page designs, text integration, images, and proofs (plotters, cromalins, BAT); ensure files meet technical specifications and production deadlines

  • Oversee production timelines, print and ebook formats, reprints, and coordinate with authors, translators, proofreaders, typesetters, printers, and our teams (art, design, PR, community, sales, and marketing)

  • Promote assigned titles on social media and support marketing or promotional efforts

  • Research visuals, monitor Japanese market trends, suggest acquisitions, and prepare reading notes

  • Support the editorial director, editorial assistant, French creation projects, and may work with manga schools

  • Ensure smooth coordination across internal and external stakeholders to maintain deadlines and project quality

  •

We are considering applicants available to work a hybrid schedule, with three days each week onsite at our Paris office.

About You

  • 5+ years' professional experience in manga publishing

  • Master's degree (Bac+5) in Publishing or related field, or equivalent experience

  • Fluent in written and spoken English; Japanese a plus

  • Strong editing, proofreading, and typographic expertise; experienced at adapting translations

  • Proficient in InDesign and Adobe Acrobat (Photoshop/Illustrator appreciated)

  • Knowledge of publishing workflows, file specs, print/export processes; notions of production and colorimetry appreciated

  • Detail-oriented, organized, process-driven, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Experienced in managing multiple projects, coordinating with authors, translators, proofreaders, typesetters, printers, and internal teams

  • Familiarity with Japanese market trends; able to suggest acquisitions, prepare reading notes, and support marketing or promotional efforts

  • Passionate about manga, Japanese pop culture, and industry trends
