Title: Security Engineer III, Fanatics Markets
Location: New York United States
Job Description:
Overview
Fanatics Markets is the real-money prediction and trading app where you can invest in moments you care about. Built on a secure platform, we let users predict real-world outcomes and trade on events they actually follow - from sports and entertainment to political elections and beyond. Our mission is to redefine how fans engage with the moments and markets that matter most. We're looking for the right people to help us build the future of prediction markets.
This role combines offensive security skills, application security expertise, and collaborative partnership with development teams to drive security excellence throughout the software development lifecycle. You'll conduct penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, perform threat modeling and architecture reviews, champion secure coding practices, and provide the technical guidance needed to build security into our products from the ground up. Working in a highly regulated industry, you'll help ensure our systems meet rigorous security and compliance standards while enabling rapid innovation. We need engineers who can balance thorough security assessment with the velocity demands of a fast-moving engineering organization—who understand both attack techniques and secure development practices. If you're passionate about breaking things to make them stronger and have the experience to back it up, we want to talk with you.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and code reviews to identify and evaluate potential security risks in applications, systems, and networks.
- Perform threat modeling and architecture reviews to identify potential security risks and integrate security early in the development process.
- Work with development teams to remediate security issues found during testing, providing guidance and support as necessary.
- Collaborate with other security professionals to design and implement security controls and processes.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest threats, vulnerabilities, and security trends to ensure that our organization is prepared to address emerging threats.
- Collaborate on security assessments on third-party software and services used by the organization when necessary.
- Participate in incident response activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in application security, including penetration testing
- Strong understanding of web application security principles and OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities
- Familiarity with security testing tools such as Burp Suite, Nessus, or similar tools
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and ability to work closely with development teams to promote secure coding principles
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash is a plus
- Relevant certifications such as OSCP, OSWA/OWSE, GWAPT, or CEH are a plus
Salary Range: $129,200 – $212,500 USD per year
