Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to spread the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world through the holy scriptures and sacred music.
This Project Manager 1 is a starting position dedicated to the work of the Scriptures and Sacred Music division of the Publishing Services Department (PSD) of the Church. This role will assist in the management of projects ranging from scripture and hymn translation to production and publishing of scriptures and the forthcoming revised Church hymnbook, and related training and awareness materials.
The Project Manager 1 will work with a team of experienced project managers within the division who are also responsible for the scope, schedule, budget, and successful and timely delivery of these materials. They do this by organizing and managing cross-functional teams drawn from both internal and external resources, and in collaboration with industry vendors and partners in Church Areas.
This role will utilized existing project management systems and ensure that project work follows established processes and policies, while also contributing to ongoing efforts to improve and streamline workflows and methodologies so we can hasten the all-important work of blessing all of God's children with His word in their own language.
In addition to the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate is passionate about scriptures and music and the importance of making these available to everyone. They are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive in finding solutions to meet unique project challenges. They act in faith in the face of uncertainty and work with a continuous improvement mindset. With effective time management, they can manage multiple projects at the same time. They are effective communicators and work well within a spiritual and professional team environment that includes product sponsors and executives.
This role is a hybrid role, primarily working remotely with 1-2 days in the Church Office Building each week.
- Stakeholder Management: Understands, coordinates, and manages client and resource team expectations.
- Integration Management: Plans, directs, manages, monitors, controls, and closes projects of small to medium complexity.
- Scope Management: Uses standard processes to ensure projects/programs include all and only the work required to complete the project successfully.
- Time Management: Uses standard processes to ensure the timely completion of projects.
- Cost Management: Uses standard processes to ensure projects are completed within the approved budget.
- Quality Management: Uses standard processes to ensure the project will satisfy the needs for which it was undertaken.
- Human Resource Management: Uses personal skills and standard processes to make the most effective use of the project team.
- Communications Management: Uses standard processes to ensure timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination, storage, and ultimate disposition of project information. Provides the critical links among people, ideas, and information that are necessary for success.
- Risk Management: Uses standard process to identify, analyze, and respond to project risk.
- Procurement Management: Uses standard processes to acquire goods and services from providers.
- Requires a Bachelors degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in a related field (preferably project management or project coordination).
- Manage scope, schedule, and budget of projects that are typically of low complexity, with a low number of deliverables in few languages.
- Proficiency in a project management system like WorkFront.
- Manage and communicate with cross-functional team members.
- Actively pursuing PMP Certification or other project management certification recognized in specific industries.
